Stayed here in January with four friends. I really loved it. On arrival we had afternoon tea in the Drawing Room. Then we sat beside a huge roaring fire and had pre-dinner drinks. Dinner itself was served in the main Dining Room complete with large oval table. Again a lovely fire was lit in that room. Very Downton Abbey! Our... More

Recently paid a visit to the bazaar at Ballyvolane House and had a magical time. The tearoom was delightful and packed full of deliciously tasty treats to be enjoyed relaxing by the hot stove. The staff were more than welcoming and helpful which made a refreshing change after a recent bad experience in another establishment in Cork. I am still... More

I booked the Ballyvolane House after looking at their website and other tripadvisor reviews. To me, it was everything I imagined the perfect Irish stay to be. I had pretty high expectations. So I booked it for our honeymoon. The Ballyvolane house is off the beaten path and pretty hidden. It was beyond gorgeous, both inside and out. It was... More

What a joy to be able to spend a night at this house. A real privilege. We gave up on the idea of a braving walk before dinner and instead, settled down in front of the drawing room fire to read. All very much the country house experience (without the expensive upkeep). Dinner and breakfast were delicious and without fault.... More

We recently stayed here- glamping in the beautiful grounds, amid the huge old trees and shrubs. It was a a delightful place to stay- so peaceful to wake up to the sound of the dawn chorus all around us. Breakfast was taken in the dining room in the main house - a fabulous place full of history and the owners... More

Ballyvolane provided a warm welcome and a fantastic setting for our anniversary. The dinner was outstanding and the portions fullfilling. You will regret passing this by even though it is off the beaten path

We spent two nights at Ballyvolane to celebrate our 20th weddding anniversary, having heard about it through a British TV programme. We shared the stay with va brother and sister-in-law, who joined us from their home on Sherkin Island, W. Cork. It was a great success, with comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds and good company, which we shared round the 'communal'... More

My teenage daughter and I spent one night at Ballyvolane. It was our favorite stay in Ireland (Ard na Sidhe, Bantry House, Dromoland Castle) and a favorite on our trip (JK Place, Florence; Soho Hotel, London; Thoumieux, Paris). We drove from Cork City using Google Maps on our phone. Once off the main road, we found plenty of signs to... More

We stayed at BVH during the middle of our trip. When we arrived my husband was quite frustrated and stressed from driving and getting lost in Cork City. This was to be the highlight of the trip for me, so I was disappointed at the state we arrived in. But all that quickly faded as we were treated to tea... More

If you love country manor house accommodations as I do, Ballyvolane House is so lovely words can't describe. The house and estate are stunningly beautiful, historic, and very nicely located in proximity to Blarney, Cashel, Tipperary, Glen of Aherlow, Kinsale and more. On this particular stay, my husband and I decided to do something completely different: we tried their "glamping"... More
