Our first visit ,stayed only for overnight B n B to attend a party nearby in Ballybunion. From start to finish the staff were truly excellent. The room had double aspect windows and was very spacious spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The proprietors John and Joan were genuinely interested in their guests even while the hotel was quite busy. The... More

Have stayed since the early 90's. The accomodations are outstanding : the rooms are large enough to easily and freely practice your golf swing. The great hospitality of Joan and John makes Kilcooly unique ! The food is the Best in Ballybunion ! Kilcooly has no rival in Ireland !

Stayed only for one night as my friend had an engagement in Clonmel the next day (the town was shut when we got there anyway so we should have stayed where we were). Nevertheless, this is a great place to stay and the live music was excellent as was the food. The west coast is fantastic as you have Galway... More

Four of us stayed over night on the way to playing golf at Ballybunion. The hospitality was superb from the welcome guiness in the bar and learning how to pour it yourself to the early breakfast at 6.15am. The room I had overlooked the carpark and was a mini suite with a very ornate bed, almost a 4 poster.

Kilcoolys Country House does not disappoint. It is a charming old Victorian hotel run by Joan and John O'Connor on the Kerry coast. Along with their manager, Barth, they create an atmosphere of gracious style and casual elegance. It is a five minute walk to the beach or to the the world class Ballybunion golf course. Kilcoolys is definitely a destination... More

One must realize that it is an old building without the amenities of a brand new resort. Kilcooly's is best for a charming, personal experience. Pros: (1) Service: The owners are accommodating and friendly. They made it a point to go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay to include modifying their breakfast times to match our daily... Didn't have a reservation but it was very quiet at around 6pm on Sunday last when three of us popped in for main courses. Good food. Friendly service. Staff of four worked the bar and restaurant without a fuss. Sea bass extremely good, steak sandwich very tasty and the fillet steak was perfect. Sun-dried tomatoes so much better in a... More

Group of 8 guys from all over US spent four nights at Kilcooly's Country House and had a great time. Owners John and Joan were fantastic and overly accommodating. Great breakfasts every morning before hitting the links, friendly, fun bar in the evening and great food in the main restaurant. Located in the heart of Ballybunion and five minutes from... More
