Ashgrove House is a full-service B&B, close to Bunratty Castle and Limerick City, and a very short drive from Shannon Airport. The Famous Durty Nellie's Pub is right beside Bunratty Castle. This is a traditional county where music and culture abound. Bring your instrument and join in a seisiún with the local musicians playing fiddles, pipes, concertinas and accordions. Your room will be warm with good beds, tea and coffee making facilities, television, clock/radios, hairdryers, curling irons. A warm welcome awaits you, with maybe something to warm the cockles of your heart. We can also arrange a b&b reservation for your next stop. more » « less

Frank and Shelia are some of the nicest owners we met on the trip. When we arrived we were greeted with Irish coffees! Frank and Shelia are both knowledgable about the castle and about places to eat. Frank recommended the Creamery, which was awesome. The room was a good size with an ensuite bath. We had our own private entrance... more

When the bus dropped us off at Bunratty Castle, we began the 3/4-mile walk up the street to Ashgrove. A car heading the other direction stopped and asked, "Are you Tracy?" It was our B&B hostess, Shelia, and when she couldn't reach her husband to drive up to get us, she offered us a ride herself back to her home... more

This charming B&B is just a half mile or so from the famous Bunratty Castle. It felt more like my husband and I were staying with family friends which was unexpected. We enjoyed the company or our hostess and the room was great. And just a 10 minute walk down the road, you get to tour a well-preserved castle. The... more

Sheila and Frank are wonderful hosts. My room was clean and comfortable, and the common areas are warm and cozy. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Clare. more

I stayed the night here with three of my mates and we all had a grand time! The rooms were big enough and the bathroom was good but what really made the stay was the hospitality of Sheila, our hostess. Upon arrival, we all felt incredibly welcomed when she made us irish coffee and hot crossed buns (both delicious!) and... more

Ashgrove House is perfectly located in the heart of gorgeous countryside, down the road from a period furnished castle and traditional Irish Pub, and is a bus ride from the... more

I loved this place. My husband and I were treated like royalty. Frank and SHeila are so up beat and fun. They served us Irish coffees on arrival, and gave us brilliant advice on local attractions etc. The grounds are really well kept and the room was cosy and warm, with a very clean en-suite bathroom. Breakfast was yummy...lots of fruit,yoghurts,porridge,sausage,bacon,eggs,scones,breads,pancakes!!!... more

I was so pleased with my one night stay in April 2007 that when I planned my trip in Feb 2008 I asked Sheila if she would put me up for 6 nights. My sister and niece joined me. Each morning she took our breakfast order (mmmmmm) and even packed scones when we had to leave at 4 am for... more

Upon stepping into this B&B, I was immediately struck by three things: the terribly musty smell, how cold it was in the house, and the open laundry room filled with unfolded towels and such. Things didn't get better when we got to our room -- it was much too small for 3 people, the towels were mismatched, and there were... more

We spent 8 nights in Ireland and one night at the Ashgrove House B&B. Although, Sheila was friendly and informative, the accommodations were not on par with the other places we stayed. The radiator was on, but it didn't seem to warm the room. It was cold and musty smelling. No hand towels were provided and not enough bath towels... more
