I have stayed at Highlands several times in the past few decades and it is always clean, comfortable and quite charming. Ballyvaughan is a little slice of heaven nestled in the Burren of County Clare, overlooking Galway Bay. We had family room (double and twin), which was very nice and had a lovely view of the Burren. The bathroom was... More

We spent a long weekend here visiting family and friends in the area. Sitting between Galway and Shannon, location is ideal for sightseeing the local scenery both along the beautiful coastline and the stunning and historic countryside. Hotel recently renovated - public areas look very good maintaining a traditional feel. Bedrooms look like they were painted in a hurry, but... More

We stayed in the Burren Hyland for a week end with our six year old son and had the nicest relaxing break! The bedrooms have just been refurbished and are really nicely decorated, clean with fab new beds. The hotel is child friendly, the food is nice and reasonably priced. We were made feel very welcome and would stay here... More

We popped in here for a late lunch, the staff were attentive and friendly. The menu was somewhat limited for the time of day. But we found some food we liked and ordered the food arrived promptly was a good sized portion and was good and hot. We saved a little room for dessert and enjoyed the pear and almond... More

We stayed here for a night as a family in three rooms and found it to be very comfortable and lovely breakfast. Staff were very friendly and rooms were freshly decorated and clean. Hotel is very conveniently located for walking and exploring the Burren and for rambling around. We had three rooms close together and there's a lovely sitting area... More

We stayed as a large group on Saturday night. Hotel had just reopened the night before and while there were a few teething problems with the heat the atmosphere and food more than made up for it. We enjoyed a great evening dinner and a robust breakfast. A great place to stay and explore the Burren from. We ll be... More

My fiancée and I stayed in this hotel on a spur of the moment weekend away. It was really nice! It's very homely and welcoming. We ate in the bar that evening and it was fantastic food. The breakfast the following morning was really good it was above standard that most 5 star hotels can't do. We also visited the... More

Myself and my two little girls stayed here after visiting Santa at the Ailwee Cave. It was great, tested the beds first for bouncability, then had a lovely dinner in the bar, couple of glasses of wine while the girls checked out the hotel lounges, great freedom for them and of course the christmas tree and decorations made it very... We have just returned from a lovely stay at this friendly hotel. Wonderful to get away from the pre-Christmas crowds in the city. The staff in this hotel are a major asset...friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive. We stayed for two nights and had a delicious meal on the first night. Everything was spot on - steak cooked to perfection. Warm,... More
