Spent one night here travelling thru Ireland for two weeks. This was our favorite spot. The hotel was packed, got the last room. Had dinner in the restaurant (they had three private, local events going on that night, crazy busy but very attentive). Were very happy to find out a local Irish trio was playing traditional music... didn't leave our... More

Unfriendly welcome on arrival at hotel .We were told we booked wrongly a cold response from hotel staff. Our room was cold on arrival no heating and faulty main window which could not be closed because of no lock on window.

Room was reasonable but windows were drafty. The door lock was tricky to disengage lock. Wifi wasn't available in the room and normal coverage from my telco was non-existent. There is wifi in the lounge however. We had dinner in the restaurant and for some reason, my 4 year old kept pestering me for the lamb. We gave in to... More

My husband and I recently took a coach tour of Ireland. We had a wonderful time; the country is beautiful and the people are so friendly. Our only disappointment on the trip was when our small group stopped at this hotel for a break. We planned to use their washroom and have a cup of tea (or Irish coffee!) and... More

Admittedly, this hotel is under new management, and they say that they are working on things. That being said, they have a fair amount of work to do. The room was in good condition, and the furnishings were in very good shape. Now for the issues. There is no elevator, so expect to walk up to whatever room you have.... More

This was my third or fourth time to stay here in this cosy town hotel and we always enjoy it. It is ideally situated between l'Arco restaurant and O'Loughlinns whiskey bar so there's no reason not to have a wonderful time in Ballyvaughan. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast delicious. The young man on reception was very friendly and helpful too.

We spent one night at this central hotel in Ballyvaughan. We had a delightful room - I think it was an upgraded one, Number 22, and it was light, spacious large and pleasant. There was a single and a double bed. We slept well- except for the ever present plastic based mattress cover, which I removed as I'm not incontinent... More

After arriving one hour early (5am, from U.S. to Shannon, Ireland) and sightseeing most of the day, we were exhausted by late afternoon. We had booked the family suite via the internet and upon arrival, we were told that it was not available. Without batting an eye, the receptionist gave us two separate rooms side by side - much to... I have stayed at Highlands several times in the past few decades and it is always clean, comfortable and quite charming. Ballyvaughan is a little slice of heaven nestled in the Burren of County Clare, overlooking Galway Bay. We had family room (double and twin), which was very nice and had a lovely view of the Burren. The bathroom was... More
