The Green Gate has a magical and timeless quality that sets it apart from the rest of the hectic world. Our room was clean and elegant in its simplicity and felt like a world unto itself. We traveled there off season and loved the wildness of the weather, the wind and the everchanging views of the ocean and surrounding mountains from... I had the pleasure of an overnight stay in this old cottage in autumn 2010. I have to declare very warmly and sincerely that the welcome ,the courtesy , the charm , the conversation and intellect of the host / "fear a 'tí" Paul Chatenoud was an absolute treat. however , paying slightly above the odds for this treat was... The Green Gate is a wonderful little B&B where Paul Chatenoud will give you the warmest welcome in his beautiful and typical cottage, just above Ardara. The view is just fantastic from the hill where the cottage is. It's no surprise The Green Gate was referred a few times as the best B&B in Ireland. And smokers are more than... More

We are an italian couple, we stayed at the Green Gate just for one night in August this year... And that night was magic!!! The sunset in the garden...the small cottage...the blankets...the bath under the stars... The Green Gate is a place with a heart....the heart and the attention that Paul put in all the small things around you... And... More

We spent 5 days at Paul's greengate in early Autumn 2011. To say this place is special is an understatement. The location on the top of a hillock over the village of Ardara is superb, and has a view of the distant bay. We stayed in the cottage with the bay view. Paul the proprietor is a pleasure to interact... More

I have stayed the Green Gate at least twice. I went to their with a few female friends once, and went to there with a group of friends in another time. Even though it was bit difficult to find the place, we all agreed that it did worth travelling to up there because the accommodation was located in very rural... More

As the name suggests this is one of the greenest spots in Ireland. You can find a mixture of tradition and genuine friendliness here. And when you enjoy delicious home-made breakfast in the morning you have a breathtaking view over the landscape. It's a place I'll never forget - it's magic. Also because of Paul, who is a very special... More

This was the trip of a lifetime. When we arrived, Frenchman Paul Chatenoud greeted us warmly and showed us the breathtaking views of Loughros Bay and Sliabh Atuadh Mountain. I can't say enough about the natural environment at Green gate. This B&B has everything. It is tidy and beautiful outside and in, with lovely native flowers lining the drive up... More
