If you like your B&B to have every modern convenience and be easy to get to, or are a bit precious about your car, try Gort Na Mona instead. If you want to experience something unique and different as you journey the Wild Atlantic Way plan to stop at the Green Gate for a night or two. It is a... More

I stayed in the Green Gate Cottage one night this August while I was doing a trip in county Donegal. Paula, Edward and Claire gave me a warm welcome to it. They were really kind and made me feel home. The place is charming, quiet and let you relax away to the busy things. The breakfast in the morning was... More

If you are lucky to see the very small green gate logo painted on the post that leads up the narrow dirt road to The Green Gate Guesthouse, you will enter a world full of enchantment and wonder! Situated on a high ridge, overlooking the breathtaking Ardara hamlet, looking out to the sea, one cannot be more transported to a... More

I visited the west of Ireland with a Derry lass and this place came highly recommended so off we went in our trusty car and vague directions. We were greeted by the 'red carpet' literally as the road leading to this quirky place is lined with the most wonderfully red flowers. Paula, our host showed us to our accommodation on... More

Paula's friendliness topped only by the local ladies with delicious cakes and scones who adopted us upon our arrival. Views fantastic, bed and room cosy and warm and nothing too much trouble for our host. Breakfast freshly prepared in front of us. Paula a warm, witty and welcoming host giving us invaluable information and a history of M.Chatenaud's life. We... More

Our stay at the Green Gate was wonderful. Paula went way out of her way to make us feel at home and welcome. This is not like other B&Bs we have stayed. Lucky enough we were the only ones staying that particular night so we scored the cottage and it was really charming to say the least. In the morning... More

The Green Gate is nothing short of a natural haven nestled atop the hills above Ardara. Respect and thanks to Paula, our bubbly, lovely, Elven, eternally youthful host - she is the ideal guardian of The Green Gate and Mr Chatenoud would be very proud. We will be back :) Helen, Niall and Eva Rose xxx

The Green Gate B&B is placed in a fantastic location with views that changed every minute. The rooms were cosy and tucked away from every day life - perfect for a much needed getaway! Paula made the experience a home away from home by her extremely helpful and relaxed personality - with breakfast, tea/coffee, toast and a night cap available... More

What a lovely place to stay, everything is there to have a break from everything you want/need to take a break from, like anytime breakfast, ashtrays in the bedrooms, super cosy inside, breathtaking views only interrupted by an ancient French car and an antique schooldesk. Most of all, the hospitality from Paula Mc Mullan is second to none. There is... More

The adventure starts as you approach Ardara and begin to see discreet signs in the shape of arrows with an image of a green gate. Wonderful and charming. When at the entrance of the lane, where the infamous Green Gate hangs in all it's glory, there is a real air of mystery as you drive over the cattle grid and... More
