We wanted somewhere quiet, but nice to celebrate a birthday. We thought about Westport or Galway, but settled for somewhere nearer home - we were not disappointed. Woodhill House is a beautiful old mansion at the top of a valley outside Ardara. It is steeped in history, from the old cannon lying in the garden in front of the entrance,... More

This restaurant is a secret gem just on the outskirts of Ardara town which is well worth investigating, this was at least my 6th time to eat in this restaurant over the years and once again it did not disappoint on New Year’s Eve. The food is second to none, the service and ambience is excellent. Do yourself a favour... More

We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a family celebration. The house is just outside Ardara village, in pleasant surroundings, and on arrival you feel you are entering a family home - the ground floor is full of family photographs, while John and James provide a lovely welcome. There is lots of parking available. On booking, I had asked... More

Returned to Woodhill house restaurant after a break of a number of years while holidaying in nearby Portnoo and we were not disappointed. Sadly one of the owners the vivacious Nancy has since passed away but the business continues under the direction of her husband John and son Charles. We were made very welcomed and had the most beautiful meal,... More

We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. It really did feel like we were staying with friends. Our room was in an converted coach house overlooking beautiful gardens. Very spacious and clean with a fridge and tea/coffee facilities. The food was amazing, good traditional Irish breakfast, and the attention to detail and taste for the... More

This is a very pretty, old style country house on the outskirts of Ardara village, overlooking the Donegal hills. We stayed in what were the chalet type rooms with a small balcony overlooking beautiful gardens. (I think in the old days these rooms were the stables) The rooms were spacious and the fridge was stocked with complimentary water. The bathroom... More

We went for a special meal and stayed overnight. It was all excellent - delightful meal, lovely staff and great room. Highly recommended. The food was delicious and very good value and the staff were just the right amount of attentive.

We stayed at Woodhill House for two nights during the Easter weekend and enjoyed exceptionally warm, dry, sunny weather. We had one of the rooms in the main house overlooking the courtyard and also the wonderful Donegal Mountains. Woodhill House is an old charming property and is clean and well decorated giving the feeling of a warm inviting home. There... More

A gorgeous, well run, welcoming place to stay in the most beautiful part of Ireland. Management is gracious and always available to help. The town sells the best Donegal sweaters and the rugged beauty of Donegal County is awesome!
