Stayed for one night before the rugby game between Ireland and Wales, the staff were friendly and welcoming, however the rooms were in need of some serious renovation. The room was adequate for my needs (a place to sleep after a few pints) but I would be reluctant to recommend the place for a family holiday or a romantic weekend... More

Went for afternoon tea on Sunday with my husband and parents. The service was outstanding, the staff are so friendly and helpful. There was plenty of food with the afternoon tea - in fact we couldn't finish it all so the staff offered to wrap it up to take home. Great experience all round..

First unpleasant surprise was 10 euro parking fee for 2 nights. We had toddler in buggy and were given a run down family room from the 1980s which could only be accessed by a lift, 3 fire doors and nine steps. If you are travelling with a buggy or pram, make sure you ask for a family room that has... More

Dear emeraldisle010 Thank you for your recent review. The Dargle car park is located adjacent to the rear of the hotel and we have arranged special reduced rates for hotel guests. The Hotel is under refurbishment and due to the size of the hotel this is time consuming. Your kind comments have been relayed to our staff. We do look... More

Myself, my husband and our two kids stayed at the Royal last week for 3 nights. Whilst we really enjoyed our stay in Bray it definitely had nothing to do with the hotel. Our room was old, smelt of stale cigarettes and had the smallest bathroom I have ever used in a hotel! The towel rail was hanging off the... More

The hotel operates a non smoking policy throughout the building. We ask that all of our guests obey our smoking policy but unfortunately sometimes this is overlooked. I've just returned from a 2 night break to this hotel with my husband and 13 month old baby. Hotel is in great location, only a short walk from the pier and in the middle of the town. Check in was quick and our room was clean and quite modern. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and... More

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviews written about the cleanliness of the hotel. The musty smell was everywhere and the games room was filthy. A good basic clean would go along way. The facilities are all there but it needs Cleaning and redecoration. You can tolerate decor but no excuse at all for cleanliness. The staff were... More

We took our 3 young children to the Royal for a fun weekend trip taking in the nearby Tayto park as part of the deal. Upon arrival into Bray, the Royal is visible from the lower end of the town and to be honest even looks slightly dated from this distance. Upon arrival we parked in the adjoining car park... More
