Location well out of town so not suitable for walking in. The reception and bar areas are both a bit unwelcoming in atmosphere. Food served in the bar up until 9 p.m. It's fine. Bedrooms are really lovely but they may have taken the atmospheric lighting a bit too far. Real contrast to bar/reception! Be warned, not ideal for blow... more

The hotel is modern and clean but as stated is a good bit out of the town. We liked this as it was quiet and easy to relax. The room was large and the beds very comfortable, the one downside was the heat in the room which was overpowering at times. Air conditioning would improve the matter greatly. The leisure... more

Thank you for your comments on TripAdvisor and we do appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback - good or bad. With regards to the heat in the bedrooms we do apologise for this. Airconditioning in the bedrooms would entail enormous capital expenditure and although this would be something that we would consider down the line it...

Used the Athlone Springs as a base for a 2 night stay. On our first night we also encountered the fire alarm at 3 & 3.30 am but the following morning received 3 seperate explanations and apologies from reception, restaurant and the manager. There is a Supervalu and Pizza takeaway just around the corner which came in handy on several... more

myself and family just back from 2 night break at the Athlone Springs Hotel. When booking I asked for a room big enough to accomadate 4 people- what we got was one double, one single and one fold away bed that blocked any spare floor space. Anyway- getting over the lack of space, the room nearly cooked us during the... more

I stayed in this hotel with my young children in August 09. We had a great time and although its a little out of the town it suited us fine as the children were happy to spend their time around the pool, which was immaculate. Our room was indeed very spacious, and extremely comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on... more

I stayed here with my husband and daughter who was two at the time. The room was lovely, with super comfortable beds, lovely modern decor, and spotlessly clean. The common areas of the hotel were also lovely and clean and modern, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Because it was so far out of town (we were aware of... more
