Nice place for the 50 euro cost. It was Oct 2014 and cool outside but portable heaters that were provided were very efficient and heated the room in almost no time. Loved the comfortor (sp)blanket. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

We chose Bastion B&B due to the positive remarks on Tripadvisor. We like a bit different / artsy things and were curious how it would present at the Bastion. The house is really unique with nooks and crannies, rather narrow ailes and with very clean rooms, each different in surface. We booked a bigger room for €80 to have space... More

Lovely welcome from Tony and his sister. Very attractive room at the back of the hotel (the Long loft room), very quiet. Continental but good breakfast in a comfortable room, which invites you to stay for a chat with other visitors. Location in town is perfect, parking is easy, restaurants and pubs at your door. No hesitation.

Stayed for a night and enjoyed the eclectic b&b. Room was nice and owner Anthony very friendly and helpful. Great location! Cannot be more central in Athlone. Try the good Lebanese restaurant next to the b&b.

Our host seemed genuinely nice and friendly, and wanted to make sure we were all set to have a good time. The long loft room was very spacious for my son and I, though a bit stuffy, and there was a step up and back down between the beds and bathroom that despite warning, was hazardous in the middle of... We stayed here for 1 night and would certainly stay again. The rooms are basic, comfortable and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent with some of the best bars and restaurants right on the door step. We look forward to our next visit.

Take a look at the photos of Bastion on the website - it's a breath of fresh air! We stayed in the loft room which was full of plants, windows, and eclectic artwork. The beds were comfortable and the room clean, with a reasonable rate even with the drama festival in town (by coincidence). Although there was not hot breakfast,... More
