Had the best weekend at Shines. We had an amazing lunch downstairs before heading up to the rooms, the chicken wings were amazing. The service was unbelievable, I have never in my life stayed in a place with such friendly staff. The staff more than out did themselves, one of the staff members herself drove us to the train station,... More

We were sent here by a B&B Owner we had been referred to after a miscommunication of reservation with the B&B we had originally booked. If we had more time to look for alternate accommodation we would have been better off. Having traveled a lot in Ireland on business I've become accustomed to modest but clean and decently appointed accommodations.... More

Stopped on our way to Dublin for lunch. Food was horrible. Very disappointing. Would never go there again or would not recommend. The fish I was served was not edible. Don't go there for food! Did not stay so can't comment on rooms.

I can't comment on the rooms as I haven't stayed here but i've eaten in their restaurant for lunch on a few occasions with a few girls from work and we all agree that the food is just divine. The staff are really friendly. Will be back - recommend :-)

I followed the sign to reception UPSTAIRS only to see another sign telling me to go the bar DOWNSTAIRS to book in and then return UPSTAIRS again - I needed to connect to wifi (free) but there was no phone in my room so I had to go DOWNSTAIRS again to get instructions and back UPSTAIRS again with staff member.... Was expecting great things from Shines but, alas, I was to be disappointed. First impressions were good - I was travelling alone but had a room with two double beds. However, on walking into the bathroom the stench that hit my nose was revolting! It was a mix of dead animals and blocked drains. A staff member came up to... More

We stayed at Shines Guesthouse in late July 2012. It's a sweet little hotel, not the fanciest and some of the decor is a bit faded but clean, tidy, and looked after. We often have trouble finding places to stay that don't require us to rent two separate rooms (and thereby blow our budget) to accommodate the two adults and... More
