This is a big hostel but it was almost empty while I was here. It made it a bit like the Shining, but I had a comfortable stay nonetheless. I imagine that in the summer when it is full it has a completely different atmosphere. You can't beat it as far as location goes if you're trying to do some... More

This was my first time to stay in a hostel. I am in my mid-fifties and I was a little scared about the whole hostelling thing. I needn't have worried. The hostel staff especially Aveene, (sorry if I spelled your name wrong ) were brilliant. So helpful and friendly. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was very airy... More

We came in the evening to find that our reservation had been cancelled due to credit card changes and they had not been able to reach us (we were enjoying being unplugged). They suggested that we get some dinner and they would make arrangements for us at a nearby B&B for no extra charge. We were able to leave all... More

I suppose as Hostels go - its one of the good ones... clean / friendly staff and it is very near the town of Lisdoonvarna.... but for me I think they do with a few odd jobs... such as only hot water tap working in the room. I also think a splash of paint wouldnt go astray.... I prefer to... More

Dear Killowen Cork Thank you for your review. We would consider ouselves to be one of the top hostels in Ireland - Sleepzone was voted number 7 in the world a few years back by Hostelworld. I was unaware of only the hot tap working - which room? We have painted since your stay and will do more so in... More

Saying that I would hate to take from the Hostel. Staff were friendly and v.nice. Location wise as well its v.convenient for the town of Lisdoonvarna.. If your visiting Lisdoonvarna be aware no bank link machine in town. I just find things so v.basic - i forgot... no soaps / not even a glass in the room. Also, the cold... More

Dear Helena Thank you for taking the time to review our hostel. Everyone is different in their accommodation preferences and that is why Ireland has a superb choice of property types. I have passed your kind comments onto our team here. Sorry about the inconvenience of no ATM - it does affect the twon's businesses - we have a lobby... More

Great good value hostel. 2 adults 2 kids in a 6 bunk, very spacious room, with large large bathroom. Easy breakfast. Lovely central location in town. Super helpful and friendly reception. Clean, plenty of parking. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

This former starhotel, just 5 minutes walk from the center of Lisdoonvarna, is a great location to explore "The Burren". You can reach all the "importend" places in this beautifull area inbetween 1 hour and also the village is worth to take a closer look. Try the beer and food at the pub down the road!!! Its a must! Vielen Dank Klaus for your superb review of The Burren Hostel (Sleepzone). Our location is great because we are right in between the Cliffs of Moher & the protected natural landscape of the stunning Burren. The Roadside Tavern opposite us is well known for it's micro brewery, music and fish. It was great to have the kids playing football on... More

Stayed here for the folk fest, there were four of us and we got a room for six and had it all to ourselves which was great and it had an ensuite. The shower is terrible in it but it did the job for two nights. The girl on reception was lovely and helpful and we all paid by card... More

After cycling from Kinvara to Lisdoonvarna, we were greeted with some lovely staff members who showed us our room. There was only 3 of us, but we had a 6 bed room to ourselves which was lovely, spacious and bright. The only downside, the bathroom. It was VERY small and the shower pressure and temperature wasn't great. However, we ate... More

Dear Darren Thank you for your positive review. That was a superb cycle - sorry about the temperature of the showers - sometimes if a lot of guests are showering at the same time, this may happen - sincere apologies.
