Firstly, Hennry is a hoot and not at all stuffy!Elaine is a most gracious hostess and together with Tom, the charming, attentive and very witty waiter, the three of them make a winning team. My husband and I just spent a sun-soaked 3-day weekend in fabulous Connemara to escape the stresses of the city and had the pleasure of staying... More

We traveled with another couple who recommended this hotel. It was the highlight of our trip. The food and service was top rate, and the rooms clean with super comfortable beds. It is peaceful and quiet. Dinner was truly one of the best meals in my travels. If you're looking for some r&r in a 19th century manor house, this... More

This was the last stop for 2 nights on our honeymoon trip before we drive back to Dublin to fly back home. First off, from the get go we got a weird vibe from Henry as he greeted us. I felt like we were being stereotyped as young party people looking to trash the place from some of the comments... More

We booked this spot based on the 4 star rating and excellent reviews and were somewhat disappointed. Property is quite dated, rooms were very basic and service was something out of Monty Python. The property itself was charming, tucked down a winding country lane with fields of sheep and idyllic vistas. But the house was surrounded by a car park which... More

Easter 2014 My wife and I spent three nights over the Easter period at this idyllic and remote setting. The hotel location is a good starting point to visit the outstanding beauty of Connemara. The house itself is set in secluded beautiful grounds – a truly tranquil setting! Accommodation at Ross Lake is very good, clean and comfortable, with antique... More

Magnificent house in idyllic setting and perfect base for exploring Connemara. Beautiful spacious ground floor room with living area and doors opening to garden. Excellent dinner and wine selection and hearty breakfast. Owners Elaine and Henry were ever attentive, caring and friendly. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed at Ross Lake House for one night in October 2013 and it was a really lovely getaway. The House is about 20 minutes by car from Galway city, a few miles on from the village of Maigh Cuilinn. The tree-lined roadway up to the house was beautiful, and there is a stunning river on the... We stayed at the Ross Lake House for two nights in September, our visit was very enjoyable and we highly recommend it. The House dates from the mid 1800's (with renovations and additions since then) and some of that character remains; high ceilings, large comfortable rooms, a separate living room and bar, and attractive grounds. The House is set back... More

My partner and I spent three nights in this wonderful hotel and can't fault a single thing about our stay. Our room was beautiful and very spacious with lovely views over the gardens. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept so soundly that we almost slept past breakfast which would have been a real shame as breakfast was fantastic.... More
