Henry and Lucy, who run Currarevagh, could not have been more welcoming. This boutique hotel exudes class and old-world style, all the while setting you at complete ease. Our room had one of the best views possible, looking out over islands, trees, and Lough Corrib from a lofty vantage point. It was spacious and extremely comfortable. The grounds are also... More

Stayed in this idyllic getaway Easter 2014, and was not disappointed. Being a family run business, the personal touch is very much evident from the moment you arrive. Henry's warm welcome with offers of afternoon tea were perfect after a drive from Dublin. Later that evening, we were treated to an amazing dinner using good quality local produce. Afterwards, tea/coffee... More

Excellent BnB in beautiful scenic spot of Connemara. Nice spacious rooms with comfortable beds and linen. Excellent breakfasts (lots of veggie options). Extremely welcoming hosts which adds to a relaxing atmosphere. Only downside was we only stayed one night...

Visited in September 2013 and fell in love with Curraveagh.. Afternoon tea, gong before dinner, genuine family atmosphere, lovely organic food. The place is old, lived in and might not be everyones cup of tea with its old fashioned beds and blankets. But I loved it.. Bed, blankets, chintzy cups are retro and a step back in time to another... We returned after 25 years. Little had changed, the atmosphere and character was the same. Still run by the same family but the next generation. Mrs Hodgson senior still very active in the running and a very gracious hostess. Food delicious, and afternoon tea not to be missed. A beautiful location and we were so lucky to have good weather... This is a wonderful, old family home that has been turned into a guest house. People come back year after year because it is so laid back and relaxing to stay here. Every detail has been seen to by the Hodgson family so you feel part of the family yet pampered at the same time. We stayed for two nights... More

Stayed for a wonderfully relaxing weekend. This place has character in spades. The hospitality is excellent and so was the food. The setting is wonderful and my only negative is that decoratively it is very worn and tired and could do with a bit of an update. Would I go back, definitely.

The great thing in choosing Currarevagh House is to shed the expectations you have of almost all other premises on this website -- even the really good ones. Currarevagh, run thoughout its existence as a hotel by the ever welcoming Hodgson family, exists as if removed from the pressures of the commercial travel industry. If to you a 'country house... I can't find enough great things to say about Currarevagh House. We were welcomed like family and quickly shown to our room and invited to afternoon tea. The house itself has so much character. Exquisite woodwork, antique furniture, original (or close to) windows. If you are looking for a modern hotel, look elsewhere. The age and craftsmanship of the house... More

Situated on the shores of Lough Corrib (Connemara) in private woodland, this private country house offers comfortable rooms and delicous food in a an informal, delightfully old fashion way. No noise, no television, no radio, no room keys - a perfect place to relax. Also easy to go into Galway and explore the wonderful countryside of Connemara. A dinner gong... More
