We had an incredible dinner here in October. The owner Henry greeted us with drinks in the entry room. The House has been the family for generations and is beautifully situated on 100+ acres of wilderness on Lough Corrib. The house itself has great charm, hanging on the stairwell is a tiger skin (the tiger was shot by one of... More

We recently stayed at Currarevagh House for two nights and had a completely wonderful experience. In line with some previous comments, at first I felt, although the house and property were beautiful, the interior was dated. I was expecting more. However, after the first hour here those feelings were long forgotten. Henry and the staff were courteous and professional. Our... More

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of our first visit to Currarevagh House on the shores of Loch Corribe in Connemara. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and treated to the Hogsdon family's warm and generous hospitality. The setting is gorgeous. June's gardens grace the grounds. The path to the lake is lush and wooded, with... More

The house is grand, the grounds lovely and the view of the lake and the mountains simply stunning. There are boats to use and a lovely shoreline to relax beside. The dinners absolutely superb! But, if you particularly detest stuffed tigers on the staircase landing and object to rooms of antique furniture and faded carpets, this place may not be... More

Easily the best 3 nights of our 3 week holiday in Ireland. The house and grounds are delightful, the food to die for and the generosity impressive. June's memory of people's preferences is legendary. We thoroughly enjoyed the post dinner chats in the sitting room with other guests over coffee after dinner. The beds were really comfortable - in fact... More

Henry is an amazing host and person: friendly, knowledgable and always there to help with questions or offer suggestions for day trips (boat tour of lake is a must), sites to see or walks to take on the property. Spectacular location, stunningly beautiful grounds and lake. Dinner was most memorable so good!! Room was spacious and clean with enough flair.

This family are both welcoming and very generous. A lovely authentic country house set on its own extensive grounds and amazing lake. One of our great Irish fishing houses. From every aspect this is a gem of a place to stay with an idyllic and exquisite setting.. From the moment you arrive, you are at home and you begin to... More

My wife and I have been going to Currarevagh House since 1988. Our last visit was our 19th stay at this wonderful place which has not changed a bit in all that time. And that is the secret - in an age when everything has to move on and be updated, Currarevagh House remains the same. The house is now... More

This is an exclusive country house in secluded lakeside surroundings Ideal for a quiet get away which is all about walks, reading relaxing and simply exquisite food. I see the pic above has a rainbow and we arrived in similar fantastical Irish weather to this utterly magical leap back in time. The house is full of old world charm with... More

I loved this place, even though 'it is not my type of place'. I am not a formal person and I felt a bit out of place in my bluejeans and hoody! A 4 course meal at 8:00 pm is also not my style.... I eat small portions and usually have dinner around 6:00 in the evening! So, sorry to... More
