Even though I only stayed one night, this was the highlight of all my travels in the past twelve months. If all hotels/guest houses in Ireland were to copy the way things are done at Currarevagh we would have a very successful tourism industry. June is a truly lovely lady who knows the meaning of hospitality. My ten year old... more

We were a big family group (18 of us) with the younger set ranging 14-24 & the more 'mature' set going all the way up to their eighties. ALL of us left Currarevagh feeling that this was the family holiday that none of us will ever forget. It was amazing to see how the teenagers never asked to see the... more

We should have stayed at this hotel for 3 nights but after we had been shown our bedrooms (rooms 2 and 10) we felt we couldn't spend one night there and so we left. This beautiful house is set in lovely grounds on the edge of a lake and whilst the lounge and dining room are old they are not... more

Of course we are very sorry to hear that this reviewer was not impressed with our guesthouse, however value his comments and take them to heart. We always appreciate any feedback we receive, good, or… not so good. We were saddened by this incident, and disappointed that this guest did not feel they could experience what we offer at Currarevagh....

We stayed for two nights and fell in love with the house. "Victorian charm" and old world experience come to mind. The drive from town was longer than expected but forgotten upon our arrival. The host, Henry, was delightful, welcomed us with tea & biccies in the front lounge. Our room (#1) was simply superb, overlooking the lake and front... more

I agree with those who say this is a place for people who value tranquility and quiet relaxation over super modern amenities. Yes the decor of the rooms is somewhat faded but they are comfortable and the public rooms downstairs are cosy and have blazing peat fires. Our host Henry was wonderful, keen, attentive, knowledgeable and super efficient. His wife... more

If the world's problems are getting to you, head for this place. Away from everything on the shores of Lough Corrib, this hotel [which was built by the current family's ancestors in 1830 and turned into a hotel by the same family in the 1880s and is still in the same family!] represents all that we feel we have lost... more

This is a unique experience at exceptional value. The house is an authentic Irish stately home set in incredibly beautiful surroundings. The hospitality is gracious and welcoming. The food is amazingly good and the serves generous. There is an excellent, well-priced cellar to compliment the cuisine. The hosts could not be more genial or attentive. I have stayed at more... more

We chose Currarevagh house based on a recommendation from a friend. We were traveling with a rambuctious 8 year old, and doing research in the area which was the reason for the long stay. We were a little nervous about having our son stay in such an elegant setting but there were other kids (who came and went) and we... more
