Excuses will be what you remember from this hotel. Poor food, lousy service, faded decor, lousy service, dirty rooms, lousy service, horrible atmosphere, lousy service, and of course excuse after excuse after excuse Clearly the management do not care a whit. Lots of excuses, no action, nobody takes responsibility. Stay well clear of this hellhole.

Used this hotel for a family gathering... what a disaster... no staff.. nearly self service.... it was never a good hotel... but only used if no other space available in Oughterard town...Since the new owners have taken over its a real dive... pool closed... bar closed sometimes no license to serve.... its only use could be for the remake of... We stayed in the Connemara Gateway in November 2007, 2008 and 2009. Found it comfortable and good value. We returned in November 2012 after pre-booking online to find things very different to what we had experienced before. Bad sign number 1.... 2 cars in the car park (one of them a builders van!) I can not find fault with our stay in the Conemara Gateway Hotel. 16 members of my family(13-85 years of age) stayed here September 29th and everyone was impressed with the service that the hotel provided. We found the rooms warm ,clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The owner and staff went out of their way to accomodate our every request.... More

After reading the last two reviews of this hotel I had to comment it is not a 3 star and dose not deserved any star. The review from SteveStan on TripAdvisor is the more accurate and honest review. Connemara gateway hotel, has a lovely themed Irish bar with open fire, playing Live Irish music TR Dallas. Also has a Huge screen for live sports. Drinks reasonably priced.
