Excuses will be what you remember from this hotel. Poor food, lousy service, faded decor, lousy service, dirty rooms, lousy service, horrible atmosphere, lousy service, and of course excuse after excuse after excuse Clearly the management do not care a whit. Lots of excuses, no action, nobody takes responsibility. Stay well clear of this hellhole.

I worked at this hotel for about two months years ago and it was the absolute worst working experience of my life. The hotel is family-owned, which in other circumstances, would be a nice touch. However, the owners are not engaged in the business and don't seem to be concerned about improving it. I sometimes wondered why they didn't sell... More

I won a night here with my boyfriend and we decided to go for our anniversary and its a night i will never forget! We arrived and even from the outside i could tell it wasnt going to be good. The exterior was run down and shabby looking. As soon as i stepped inside, there was a horrible smell of... More

Used this hotel for a family gathering... what a disaster... no staff.. nearly self service.... it was never a good hotel... but only used if no other space available in Oughterard town...Since the new owners have taken over its a real dive... pool closed... bar closed sometimes no license to serve.... its only use could be for the remake of... Just looking at other reviews. We stayed there in August 2012 and I have to say it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. On arrival we were told chef wasnt working for the first night, there was some excuse made, so we had to venture to the local village. The next night the chef was there but we... More

We stayed in the Connemara Gateway in November 2007, 2008 and 2009. Found it comfortable and good value. We returned in November 2012 after pre-booking online to find things very different to what we had experienced before. Bad sign number 1.... 2 cars in the car park (one of them a builders van!) Bad sign number 2.... couldn't get in... More

I can not find fault with our stay in the Conemara Gateway Hotel. 16 members of my family(13-85 years of age) stayed here September 29th and everyone was impressed with the service that the hotel provided. We found the rooms warm ,clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The owner and staff went out of their way to accomodate our every request.... More

After reading the last two reviews of this hotel I had to comment it is not a 3 star and dose not deserved any star. The review from SteveStan on TripAdvisor is the more accurate and honest review. I booked this hotel for one night, the money for the full stay was taken out of my account 48 hours prior... More

I had a great experience in the Connemara Gateway Hotel. A warm and friendly welcome with the added charm of the West of Ireland. The smell of the turf fire on entering and a lady sitting doing her crochet made for a cosy atmosphere. It didn't matter that it was a bit out of date, the welcome and service would... More
