We spent two lovely nights at Ballduff House, which was an excellent place from which to explore the Kilkenny area. We were a short ride from Kilkenny (where we enjoyed the Arts Festival), and minutes from restaurants and nearby historical sites like Jerpoint Abbey. Our host, Brede, was both welcoming and interesting, and made our stay one of the best... More

We were booked for June 28th and when we arrived Ms B Thomas said she was full. She didn't seem at all concerned that we had arrived tired and expecting to relax and was not helpful in finding another place to stay.

We stayed for a week and had about 15 of us staying after a celebrating a wedding over the weekend. Upon arrival, there was a fire lit and a mean waiting for us. The grounds were beautiful with a river in the backyard, and a rose garden in the front. Bre came everyday prompt to lite a fire in the... More

Attending the Kilkenny Arts Festival for work and pleasure, I wanted somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre to rest up. What I got in Ballyduff House was beyond what I could have imagined. I felt like I was living in the set of a Jane Austen novel (with all the luxury of the 21st century thrown... More

We recently held a hen weekend in Ballyduff house and couldn't recommend it highly enough if you are looking for a special and memorable venue for a girlie weekend away. Bred was a fantastic host and gave loads of recommendations on activities including the caterers (Mijke and John) who faciliated 18 of us for a lovely dinner on the Saturday... More

My husband already shared his thoughts ("Wonderful Home, Wonderful Host - Wayne S. Lodi) but I, of course, need to add my two cents..lol! Our time at Ballyduff House with Bred was the highlight of our trip to Ireland. The place gets into your soul and stays with you. I will always remember our late evenings, sitting by the fire... Some years ago I stayed at Ballyduff House during a trip to Ireland with a friend. I had such fond memories of that visit that I wanted to take my husband there when we vacationed in Ireland recently. Our arrival was delayed by some travel glitches, but Bred, our host, made us most welcome and went out of her way... More

I have stayed in the Ballyduff house twice now (April and May) , and I couldn’t recommend it more highly and the same is true for our wonderful warm hostess Bred Thomas. It is uniquely the REAL DEAL. We love period houses and grand hotels and normally find they have been taken on by a new business but this house... More

The title says it all. The Ballyduff House itself quickly feels like a home away from home because of the serene setting, the wonderful host and owner Bred, and of course Jack, the 3 legged dog! From the moment we arrived, Bred welcomed us into her beautiful home with tea in the study and good conversation. Later in the evening,... More

We absolutely love stay with Bresde at her home. The grounds and the house were beautiful. She was an excellent host. We also loved the great breakfast!! Can't wait to go again. We walked the grounds and the gardens that she is restoring and found a lot of plants that we have in our area. The river running behind the house... More
