I stayed here for 1 night, a solo traveler and it was a pleasant stay. The room was spacious, clean and warm, the breakfast was good and it was only a 10 min walk to the center. The price was fair and the owners were very friendly. Id stay here again.

Myself and 3 male colleagues stayed for a long weekend with owners Patrick and Catriona for a retirement celebration.... The food, accommodation, service and cleanliness were brilliant.... We were handy (3 mins) for the town and of course the pubs. With heavy hearts and memories that will live with us forever we had to leave sunny Clifden Town...Well done Buttermilk... More

Can't say enough about our stay here. We were so well-taken care of by Catriona and Patrick. We stayed 7 nights, and didn't want to leave. The room/bed was comfortable, the black out curtains helped us sleep and get rid of our 8 hour jet lag!, the breakfast was amazing every day with choices that were terrific and tasty. This... More

When we arrived we were greeted by one of the owners (presumably Patrick as he didn't introduce himself) whom I thought seemed a little uncomfortable with the process. I suspect this is normally undertaken by his wife! Nevertheless we were given a choice of rooms and offered a cup of tea and fresh home made fruit cake which is always... More

This is a lovely B&B and super clean with all the extras! Cathriona O'Toole, the owner and hostess, is an absolute top-notch hostess and is incredibly informative with providing helpful information and useful tips on the area and sites. The B&B has all the amenities and personal touches and little extras are evident in the rooms and throughout the common... More

Had a lovely stay in Buttermilk. Our room was spacious clean & comfortable. Breakfast had great choice.. We opted for the full Irish & it tasted yum. Hosts were very friendly & helpful. Location to Clifden is good with a short walk into town taking the short cut through te lane. Definitely would stay again & recommend to others.

This super clean place is a great choice when traveling to Clifden. We spent two nights here recently. The Lodge is very well managed by the owners who definitely have a professional attitude about what they do. They are so thorough in providing information, extras in the room and lounge to assist guests. We loved the location--could easily walk into... More

I can see why Buttermilk lodge won an award. Nice clean rooms with extra's like an ironing board. Breakfast includes a wide choice like salmon and scrambled eggs, pancakes and of course a ful Irish. Homemade bread (delicious!) and several juices (even cranberry). Naturally there is also fresh buttermilk. The living room is always warm and cosy with an open fire... More

We arrived without a reservation and were lucky that there was a room for us. A little disappointed with the lack of hospitality from the man who checked us in, maybe we were spoiled after great experiences elsewhere. Room was lovely, clean and comfy. Good location. A bit pricey compared to other places we have stayed in the region. Breakfast... More

Very welcoming from the second I arrived. Nice rooms and a short walk to town. They had menus for the pubs and recommendations for music playing nightly. Any questions they were very helpful. I also took a drive to see their Connemara ponies, which they provided directions for. Great location to explore the area from. Breakfast was delicious and I... More
