Clean and well appointed room. En-suite room included tub and shower. My friend and I chose Buttermilk at random when we arrived in Clifden and couldn't have been happier. A short walk (less than 5 minutes) into town center. Quiet. I would recommend to anyonoe travelling in Connemara. more

Exceeded all by expectations - from the rooms, the breakfast, the friendly service & attention to details...what a perfect stay! You can get cheap hotel rates of 50E or 59E these days but it's worth paying that little bit extra for the wonderful stay we had at the Buttermilk Lodge! more

From Milestone House it is an easy and pleasant 5-minute walk into town. Ample private parking is provided. I can only repeat what has been said in other reviews, Cathriona is an extremely efficient host. It is reflected in the design of the rooms, as well as the extras she is offering, e.g. laundry service, iron and ironing board in... more

Great bed, breakfast, staff. Had a problem with the shower head, was fixed straight away. Turf fire is a nice touch though it wasn't cold outside. Love the smell of a real turf fire. No tea making facilities in the room but there was downstairs in the lounge. Only had UHT milk. Hate the stuff, nobody I have ever asked... more

My husband and I and our seventeen year old daughter just stayed here in a triple room which was comfortable and spacious. Computer with internet was abailable off little sitting room but also had wireless in the room, by far the largest bathroom we have had in a bed and breakfast and the best breakfast. It was a comfortable walk... more

My other half and I loved Buttermilk Lodge so much that we are returning again this New Years Eve! The friendly owners had a warm reception with champagne and nibbles which were a nice touch. Our room was warm, clean and had the most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in! The breakfast at Buttermilk is better than some 4... more

We stayed here recently, but have stayed a few times before as well. Whenever we visit Connemara we stay here and will always keep coming back. Breakfast choices are great and a little bit different. Accommodation is always great value, comfortable and we've always found it quiet and peaceful. PC with internet access available in first floor area which was... more

With its many cows in every shape and form (Buttermilk, get it???), the Lodge is a bit on the kitschy side. Cathriona knows her locale well and is super efficient in both keeping a clean place and dispensing helpful information. This isn't luxury; it's dependable and clean lodging with a super, fully home-cooked and ample breakfast. Cathriona makes the jams... more
