My family and I stayed here the last night of a whirlwind trip along the west coast of Ireland and loved it. The interior is beautiful. It's filled with inviting corners to sit and enjoy a conversation or a book--and there are plenty of fascinating choices. The tables are artfully stacked with lavish hardcovers--art, photography, history, and more. The decor... More

The Quay House (pronounced key house for us Americans) was fantastic! Paddy and his wife Julia were very friendly and helpful. The house itself was spectacular, filled with items that they've collected over the years. Very quaint and felt very authentic! The rooms were more mini suites, big and spacious with fireplace (electrical), sitting group, balcony, and small kitchen. Breakfast... More

Recently (early October) we spent 2 nights in The Quay House, Clifden, selecting it from a list of B&Bs as looking to be something a bit out of the ordinary. We were not disappointed. The location is excellent, overlooking a historic fishing harbour with fishing boats coming and going just across the street and only a gentle short walk up... More

The waterfront views provided a lot of fun as we watched the Atlantic tides dramatically ebb and flow. The property is large but feels intimate, and is chocked full of family and historical memories in the public areas and to a certain extent in the rooms. We staid an extra day due to a schedule change and are glad we... More

This was probably our favorite hotel throughout our trip to Ireland. What an amazing place! A seven minute walk into town and right on the water, the Quay House is truly special. The building itself is beautiful and full of character. Four floors of whimsical eclecticism. All kinds of rooms downstairs where you can sit by the fire, or read... More

This is an excellent period guest house that is bursting with character. It is conveniently located a short walk from the center of Clifden. Paddy and Julia were very friendly and full of suggestions as to where to go and where to eat. All in all a great romantic location

A lovely guesthouse, run by a charming couple, who were always on hand to answer queries, very kind & helpful. Lovely old-fashioned, comfortable room, with views to the sea. Breakfast was served in the conservatory, by efficient, polite staff. Great Irish Breakfast! We will definitely be back!

One of the best places I have ever stayed in.old world charm, home comforts and exceptional hospitality from Paddy, Julia, NIco and Toby. The rooms are huge, warm and beautifully decorated with wonderful old antiques. Loads of great reading on hand and only a short walk up to the charming and vibrant town of Cliften. Thank you for looking after... More

This is a quirky spot in a great setting. A few minutes walk to clifden village centre with lots of pubs and local music. Wonderful breakfasts with a local special from the sea each morning. The owners are great, very hospitable. Expect something different!

The website is slightly misleading when it states, "Quay House is Clifden's oldest building, dating from C1820". The entrance to the hotel and the section that our room was in are relatively modern with the original building sandwiched between. But that is a minor quibble. We arrived to be greeted by Paddy, led through to a staircase and told that... More
