A heavenly drive to a heavenly spot in the wilds of Connemara. Of course there are creaky floorboards, and eccentric fittings in the rooms, it's a castle after all. But it is just magical. The beds are beautiful, some four posters; the service is outstanding, not just friendly but engaging, witty and delightful. There are complimentary tea and scones, prosecco... More

To start with, Connemara area is just a wonder and Clifden a very charming village. The welcome (by the clerks and a parrot that sometimes walk among the guests...) at the castle has been extremely friendly and you get immersed immediately in the Abbeyglen atmosphere. Don't expect a modern hotel equipped with the most modern facilities (e.g.: wifi only in... More

Fantastic large rooms, with large windows looking toward woods. The staff were exceptional and most attentive. Each room (bedroom, study or bar) greeted you with a fireplace and a comfortable seat. Great food in both the bar and the restaurant.

After a long drive from Shannon, and doing the Sky Road, we stayed at Abbeyglen for a night. Our main objective was to stay atleast one night in a 'castle' - and this place served the purpose well. A young guy helped us with luggage from parking. Check-in etc was smooth and we got a garden facing room on 2nd... More

The Treatment Rooms are truly a place to go to Relax, unwind and feel stress free. The Cottage is designed beautifully and feels so private and away from it all. I had a facial Treatment and found Megan my Therapist so professional and kind. My Mom had the hot stone massage by Megan also and said it was the best... More

Abbeyglen is a family run hotel and has all the hallmarks of a well run and customer based hotel. It is an old fashioned place and suited to the older generation. That being said they do cater for all ages but perhaps not necessarily for young children. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and make you really feel at home.... More

The photos looked so beautiful, but I have to admit it was a disappointment to us. If you need wifi or high speed internet during your trip, find different lodging. The wifi is restricted to a small area near the registration desk. The internet connection was not high speed. Despite turning off the radiator, the room was so hot (In... More

Stayed a couple of nights here. I've been in similar places which pride themselves on a "non-corporate" style and Abbeyglen Castle is definitely not for those who want the reassurance of uniformity. It is quirky in look and feel with old-fashioned, comfortable furniture spread about the place in a hotch-potch of colours and styles. The corridors bend and dip, the... More

We spent a fabulous couple of days at the Abbeyglen and enjoyed it immensely. Shortly after we arrived we were invited to complimentary tea and scones which was very welcoming. There was a gathering before dinner with other guests where the owner talked about the history of the local area. There was plenty of complimentary prosecco and it was so... More

Stayed here for three nights with my disabled Mother and we had a superb time. Some people might find it a bit quirky but it was fabulous to experience such helpful staff who would do anything to ensure an enjoyable stay. Having read some of the other reviews I was thinking that I was in a different place, but then... More
