Definitely recommend! Felt like we were invited guests to someone's country home. Such friendly staff! Lovely breakfast and dinner - best part of all was the 'gather round the piano' and enjoy the entertainment and the company of the other guests. Loved being in a small lodging where we didn't feel like we had to whisper! The cute town of... More

Lovely warm welcome, first impressions very good, decor very nice. Had a champagne reception giving brief history of Clifden & the castle itself, most interesting. Rooms very spacious , lovely comfortable 4 poster bed, bathroom spacious with lots of toiletries . Meal in the evening was very very tasty, great service, all the staff were friendly & attentive. Would most... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Abbeyglen. Yes, the WIFI was very poor in the rooms, but there was much more to make up for it. The food was excellent, and all of the staff was more than helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is nicely located in Clifden. The surroundings are well kept however when we were there the hotel was full with noisy American tourists, evidently in search of Irish culture and history. Wifi is only available in the lobby, thus everyone congregates there. What really put us off was the smell in the hotel - heating in the lobby... More

Went for dinner when visiting the area for the weekend. The hotel does not appear to get many people coming for dining who are not staying there as the first question I was asked on arrival was for my room number and again later by the waiting team. Putting that aside the dining room was a warm , inviting and... More

We were greeted like visiting royalty with a warm peat fire giving off a wonderful aroma that made you feel at home. The rooms were well appointed and breakfast and dinner were feasts. The owners were excellent hosts. The grounds were spectacular, just right for an evening and morning stroll. The only drawback was we only stayed for one night.... More

Stayed three nights as part of a riding holiday. This was hands down the best hotel we stayed at in our two weeks in western Ireland. The building and grounds are beautiful. The staff could not be more attentive and friendly (even when we came in wet and muddy after a day on horseback!). In the evening there is complimentary... More

Wonderful hotel with service, atmosphere and more. The room was generous in size with the only downside being wifi is not available in the room, but is downstairs in one of the rooms such as the lounge room. The guinea fowl was top notch and the pre-dinner drinks and traditional music rounded off a full day. There is plenty to... More

Visiting from Australia, we were advised by a local to stay at Abbeyglen Castle. Booked two adjoining rooms which were great, with lovely big bathrooms. We had dinner for seven on the first night which all enjoyed. Breakfast was excellent. I must have eaten eight sausages --yum. Our host Brian was warmly welcoming and his staff great too. Top marks
