Easiest check in! After taking a group photo of us, they took our luggage and brought us directly to our rooms. Room was clean and updated. There was a champagne reception before dinner where a funny gentleman told us the history of the castle. Both dinner and breakfast the next morning was great!

Beautiful old building, very large room, great ambiance. Breakfast (two times) and dinner (one time) were good, not exceptional. Note about dinner in their formal dining room -- restaurant host put American flag on our table turning it a notch down on "class rating." Service was very, very friendly and attentive. Pre-dinner drinks at bar with staff chatting about history... More

Upon arriving at the hotel/castle, a staff member (Cillian) immediately walked out to our car and offered assistance with our bags. This was much appreciated as I usually have to manage my fiancé's luggage along with my own solo. Check in was easy and they showed us to our room. The staff offered a "local talk" which was an interesting... More

Our room was absolutely terrible. It was none of the rooms pictured on the website. Decor was lacking. Headboard was dusty. Light was not working in bathroom. Drinking glasses were stored right by toilet (eewwww!), no where to set toiletries in bathroom, the room was very hot, water spilled out of the tub/shower, water bottle wasn't refilled, nor glasses replaced.... This castle has a beautiful outside. The inside is average, lots of cobwebs in our room. What made the experience was complimentary afternoon tea when you arrive, complimentary glass of champagne orientation with info about the area, we had steak for dinner and it was the BEST steak dinner that both my husband or I have had. They offered us... More

Food glorious food!!! Words will not describe the scrumptious feast that awaits the diner entering this haven perched upon the hillside! All I can say is do not eat for the day prior to coming here! You are in for a culinary delight, tasty starters followed by sumptuous mains but the creme de la creme is the dessert table perched... More

We recently stayed in a family group at the Abbeyglen and had a "wow" time from arrival to departure almost a week later. Wonderful atmosphere and welcome, enormous attention towards creating a really special experience for all guests and truly delicious, fresh amazing food and service. Mouth watering oysters, Connemara lamb and simply the tastiest crab claws in the west... More

On arrival at Abbeyglen I felt a little apprehensive at the lack of the mod-cons we have come to expect through various hotel stays. My doubts were smashed by the generosity and friendliness of the staff team within the hotel. On arrival we were sat down for complimentary afternoon tea which was a treat after a long journey. That same... More

a nice castle hotel with large rooms that are overall a bit outdated. thus the shower in our room for example did not work, the battery of the safe seemed to have some problems as well, We had a superior ie a very large room with some seating area and a large comfortable bed. We also ate at the restaurant... More

So if you get the concept that you are staying in an old castle it's pretty cool - the peat fire and cozy bar, comfy seating for the lobby and lounge to play card games or use wifi. There is not wifi in the rooms (it's a castle!) and the rooms are not modern (and do need a cobweb cleaning... More
