Enjoyed 2 nights at this lovely old hotel. It may not be the Ritz, but it has immense charm and the friendliness of the staff is worth a lot. If you can, get a room with a view. It's probably worth the extra. Overall, the value here is excellent. Afternoon tea is free, they had a free Prosecco hour (with... More

We have just had a fabulous weekend at the Abbeyglen. The welcoming fire that greets you as you pass through the front door sets the scene for the warmth that's to come. Those Cead Mile Failtes must have emanated from every staff member in the hotel. Whether it was the amazing menu, those spectacular views, the open turf fires around... More

I stayed at Abbeyglen on a 3 day DBB package deal, which was insane value. The dinners were spectacular, the breakfasts immense and the rooms very comfortable. Even though he was quick to tease me about the Springboks' rugby loss to Ireland, Brian Hughes, self-proclaimed "Struggling Hotelier" was anything but....... amusing, entertaining and informative. Abbeyglen Castle is highly recommended

I have never seen a staff work harder to please guests, great food, and the hotel owner sang his heart out to the pure pleasure of a packed house . Brian Hughes had to be one of the best hoteliers in Ireland and what an entertainer ! So many thrilled guests . No where else in Ireland does it like... More

We only stayed one night at Abbeyglen, but had a great time. We met locals and other travelers and had a wonderful evening (and well into the morning hours) visiting and learning local history and about other travelers experiences. The hotel room was beautiful and had the most wonderful bath tub! We did not especially like the dinner menu, but... More

When we arrived, we found that we had what we believe to be the best room in the castle. Our room was on the back side, and our room walked out to a terrace which was like one of the towers. The staff was very nice. The afternoon tea was great. We were treated like VIP's. My husband and I... More

They made us feel like family and I was finally able to really enjoy an original Irish meal with some of the best people. They call your room for champagne get... More

We think a night in an old castle is a must do when visiting Ireland. The Abbeyglen is located near Clifden on the Sky Road. Unfortunately the weather was very bad, so we enjoyed the facilities of the castle. Rooms are what you expect (you're in a castle), clean and spacious. We had dinner there. It's not the usual hotel... More
