Just had to write a review of my stay in the carlton hotel in kinsale. We booked our stay only an hour before we arrived at the hotel on sunday 15 march. We had read a few bad reports on trip advisor about the hotel but we always like to make our own minds up on a hotel so we... more

Stayed here for 3 nights in February. Great value deal and fab setting. Given that it was February, the hotel was practically empty and unfortunately had no atmosphere. The restaurant was dismal, food average and the bar was probably one of the worst I have ever been in (and I've been in a few)!! I was gob-smacked at how poor... more

Carlton Kinsale was more than we expected to find, considering we booked our condo-style three bedroom, three bathroom "room" for 149 euros a night the day that we needed the room. The location is beautiful and remote, however finding it in the dark proved a bit challenging given the hotel's posted directions on its website. Our "room" also came with... more

We stayed at the Carlton a few weeks ago for a weekend. Overall, the stay was a disappointment. Biggest issue - the cold. You'd imagine in the middle of winter that the hotel would be warm and cosy. Not so. The reception area was cold. The room was cold, and took a long time to warm up - i.e many... more

The good points are that the hotel is in a beautiful location outside Kinsale, the decor is lovely and the rooms ok. Spa treatments were good. Rates are good. However the service and food is abysmal. We stayed there recently for a work day and without going into detail the service was terrible. Lunch was a joke with everyone being... more

We were visiting friends in Kinsale and stayed here (2 adults and 13yr old on sofa bed) for 2 nights in January 2008. The hotel is new and the rooms clean and immaculate. The rooms with the sea view would be brilliant but you would need to ensure you are getting one (and I suspect, paying for) when booking. There... more

My family have stayed here in 07 & 08, we stayed in the apartments although my parents have also stayed in the hotel. There are great views from the hotel rooms and the apartments are modern, comfortable & clean. I can honestly say I found it to be the best breakfast I have ever experienced, a magnificent buffet of both... more

I was here last Summer for my cousin's Wedding and my family had about 20 of the hotel rooms (aswell as the main function room for the reception). I have to say everyone loved their rooms. Aside from the bridal suite I liked my room in particular which was on the back of the main building with corner windows (overlooking... more

The good points: The room was clean. The bad points: Extortionately priced food and drinks. Very poor breakfast which was mostly cold and tasted strange. We had a meal in the oyster view restaurant one evening, I asked for the mussels, we are out of mussels, so i had the pate, this came with toast that was as cold and... more

We arrived late and found the property hard to find at night but once we arrived, it was outstanding. Check-in was a breeze - we pre-paid by credit card. Our room was large, clean and modern. The staff was friendly and very focused. Parking was easy. The morning view was great - nice lake and out-of-town setting was nice. Wish... more
