We didn't have to think too hard when deciding how to round off the kids summer break from school. The Carlton is our automatic go-to hotel for everything- location, comfort, service and food. For this working Mum of 2 small children it's like a home away from home, with benefits. I love the fact that the grounds are away from... More

The location of this hotel is absolutely wonderful so it was a real disappointment to experience such poor service from the reception staff and a rather disgusting room with broken bathroom tiles, stains on the furniture, torn curtains and hairs in the sink. This is not a 4 star hotel as it promotes itself.

This relatively new hotel, in a wonderful setting, is a big disappointment. I received poor service from more than one member of staff. The room rate is not low, and I think a better level of service would be appropriate. Trivial examples are - 1 no local map to hand at reception, and no effort made to rectify this omission,... More

This hotel is not in kinsale, it's a short drive outside with a shuttle service that you can pay for. Maybe they could offer it as part of your stay. It's a nice hotel but standards are starting to slip. The pool and spa are nice. The bar and restaurant are ok but while we were there service was a... More

We arrived 20 mins after check in time for our first break away in 3 years due to finances. Kids so excited. The girl on the desk said sorry Sir but your room won't be ready for another half hour. Sorry kids we'll just sit here in reception as our room is being cleaned. We waited and watched four families... More

My family & I stayed here recently in one of their self catering houses! They are spacious and can fit comfortably a family of 6. Not too far from the hotel either which has lovely grounds and a swimming pool which kept the kids happy. The breakfast was nice. Overall a pleasant stay!

Treated my friend to a nights stay here for her 40th birthday. Staff were friendly on arrival. Lobby and hall areas a bit shabby looking. Room was lovely though and very clean. I would fault the lighting, very poor as only two bedside lamps and bathroom very dark, should have a dimmer switch. Shuttle bus into Kinsale but we were... More

Just back from a lovely week in kinsale - we stayed in one one of the lodges which turned out to be a great idea. The hotel is lovely and the staff are friendly - there were a few weddings on during our stay so having the lodge to go to was great!! Especially as we were 2 families with... More

I spent two nights in this hotel as a guest at a family wedding. The views from the hotel are spectacular, overlooking a river and a bay. There are lively areas to sit out in to admire the view. The hotel itself is off the beaten track and can be difficult to find. The Garmin Sat Nav co ordinates for... More

Stayed around Easter time. Weather was terrible but hotel food & location was excellent. Some front desk staff lack people skills but the barman was excellent. Food was very good, rooms were nice but cleaner had to be reminded to clean my room on one occasion.
