Visited here with my husband for dinner and a couple of drinks. Was pretty busy but we sat at the bar and took in the atmosphere. Friendly staff and the food was lovely. We shared the starter plate and then had the scampi and steak. Very tasty and portions were good enough that we had no room for desert! We... More

Looking forward to having dinner in the Sugan on Sunday 5th July 2015, having had a lovely previous experience we had high expectations. My meal arrived consisting of over cooked hake fish served on a stodgy risotto without asparagus as outlined in the menu which cost €25.00. My partner ordered traditional batter fish an chips with mushy peas, which turned... More

A very cosy pub, located in a very busy town. Good selection of fish dishes, we had monkfish and a fish pie, really was very good. All sides are extra and the eating or drinking area is really quite small, but our server Denis got us a nice table and looked after us very well.

In town for a family wedding, we chose the B&B over the local hotels mainly due to its historic links. My husband and I stayed 4 nights in room 1, located on the first floor and overlooking the front. There was no warning that the high street was under repair and all the traffic (including large lorries) trundled past the... More

My wife and I recently spent a night at the Sugan B&B in Clonakilty, The Sugan B&B a building oozing with character and steeped in history is superbly located close to the heart of Clonakilty a thriving vibrant town, a beautifully appointed room, spacious clean, warm, comfortable, made us feel at home, whilst still enjoying the freedom and excitement of being away. The... More

The B&B (which is next to the pub) was in darkness when we arrived so we went to the pub and were greeted by a very helpful member of staff. He knew who we were (as we were the only guests arriving with a child) and immediately stopped what he was doing and showed us to our room and was... More

We had a legendary bad meal in An Sugan over 20 years ago. Down in Clonakilty again over the Christmas and was lured in again by recommendations by Lucinda O'Sullivan and Paolo Tullio despite family objections. We just missed the 6.30 pm early bird cut-off. Salt and pepper calamari is a firm family favourite and was ordered by all except... More

Have stayed in Clonakilty a few times now, especially for a number of weddings over the summer. We recently stayed at An Sugan for the first time, and wish we'd found it sooner. A nice, spacious, clean room, friendly service and a lovely breakfast in the morning at a very good price.

We didn't stay here, just went in for dinner, we were seated straight away and given menus. Drinks order was taken and we had them quite quickly, however it took almost 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order, and another 35 for our food to arrive, we didn't have starters and another couple who ordered at... Didn't stay in the hotel but had dinner in the bar.really enjoyed the food, top notch and the service was great . definitely needs a overhaul but then that might take away the 'feel' of the place.might not want to stay on what other reviews say but I'd highly recommend the food
