Given as a two night bed and breakfast stay for £80. Hotel was filthy and rooms bore no resemblance to those on website (hence the lengthy disclaimer posted on Great Northern Hotels website). Foolishly decided to eat in restaurant on first night and was subjected to almost in edible pre plated, mass produced sludge. The rubber and leather cheesecake was... More

Stayed here as part of our coastal road trip recently. Bit a great room only deal through the hotel directly. Romans are very basic, really dated looking & the bedding is average. The bed wasn't the worst I've slept on but it wasn't cosy. The tv was hopeless, only had one channel working. The location is amazing, right on a... More

We didn't stay at the hotel - we just used the restaurant (at the bar) The service was possibly the slowest I've ever experienced. We weren't the only ones complaining. People were waiting ages for food and drinks. The lady who went off to get us the menu came back, but ignored us. As it turns out, the food was... More

Just back from an overnight stay at this hotel. A renowned family hotel in a fabulous location in Donegal with great views and surrounding golf course. Rooms have all the essentials but just need updated. Food was great. Service at the bar not just so good, with a bit of waiting about at times, especially when it wasn't busy. Receptionist upon leaving... More

Just had another fantastic weekend at the Great Northern Hotel where as usual the staff of all departments from the front desk to the waiters and waitresses were top class - nothing was a problem (even though we had none) but they were on hand and pleasant and helpful throughout the entire weekend - and believe me since we had... Just spent lovely couple nights at this hotel. The rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. Food very good. Staff excellent . Beautiful walks. We were lucky with the weather being this time of year. All in all a very enjoyable relaxing time.

We have been coming here now for 3 years for a dance weekend. We are treated royally every time and the front desk staff know us by name. We were upgraded this time to a suite which was a pleasant surprise and it was magnificent. 3 way views of the sea and golf course. all the hotel staff are excellent,... More

We went to this hotel in February for one night. Glad it was only one night and not two or more. Very disappointing. When we arrived we asked for a cup of coffee. It was 10.30am on a Friday morning. We were told by a girl in the bar breakfast was over and the kitchen was closed. We had left... More
