This hotel must is a rarity in Ireland nowadays. Poorly run, badly decorated, unsatisfactory food and not as cheap as other hotels in it's class, so can't use that as an excuse. I stayed only one night for business and was greeted by a friendly but extremely relaxed (slow) guy at reception. I found my room to be drab, tatty... more

We stayed in the Downhill Inn for two nights and we were constantly dissapointed. Firsty: we had trouble setting up the internet, the staff were absolutely no help. Then when we finally did set it up, we were only allowed log in four times and that was it for the day. Then the breakfast was hardly a 'full-irish'. It was... more

We had a fantastic time at the hotel with excellent staff throughout in a beautiful appointed room. My only gripe was a mistake on our dinner bill, being charged for 2 rather than 1 bottle of wine, which was rectifyed, dinner was excellent. Breakfast service was excellent. Would I stay again? Definitely. more

Just back from our annual Golf Trip, the hotel organized everything - tee-times, transpost, meals etc etc. The hotel is ideal -located near some of the best golf we had in Ireland. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are a real gem. we dined in the hotel twice - the food excellent and service too - it... more

We stayed at the Downhill Inn one night while on a Trafalgar Tour. It was the worst hotel of our entire trip. The carpet was stained; mold in bathroom, water leak stains on ceiling in bathroom, and worst of all, stains on carpet. If I had not been stranded on the Trafalgar Tour already, I would have never put my... more

Each meal time over the 5 days had something missing from the table, either cutlery or crockery. Service was a bit erratic and it showed that the staff are either inexperienced or untrained on how to serve large parties. Surprising in that previous reviewers mentioned the fact that parties are the norm. Very few staff members in attendance and felt... more

Booked a triple room for 1 night which cost €90 in total and this included a full irish breakfast. Thought this was very good value. Is on the outskirts of Ballina town so a distance from the town centre. We stayed there when there seemed to be very few other guests. Does seem to cater for a lot of tour... more

reasonably comfortable- motel rather than hotel. walking distance to ballina town. breakfast very poor value. seems to cater mainly to tour groups so presumably no incentive to secure return visits. internet access 1 euro for 7 minutes. more

i stayed in the downhill inn as i was on a business trip. In the morning there was no hot water in my room. The manager said that the boiler had broken and there was nothing they could do. I can understand that these things happen, but when i wanted a discount - as a hot shower should be a... more
