We traveled as a group of 5 through Ireland for 10 days in late June/early July, and now in reflection when we discussed our favorite place to stay, we decided it was here at the Shelburne Lodge. It was a difficult choice because we were lucky and loved everyplace we stayed, but the Shelburne Lodge was special. What makes it... More

This house was a joy to stay in. Our beautifully located and appointed room oozed character and was a relaxing haven. Our bed was huge and extremely comfortable with excellent linens and our bathroom was generously sized and contained a bath. The room had the benefit of natural light from it's three different aspects and there were views of the... More

This is a beautiful B&B. Big old house, beautifully furnished. Hosts are a lovely elderly couple who are bending over backwards to make your stay pleasant. They're happy to help in any way. Breakfast was divine. It's about a 5-10min walk into town. Well worth staying here.

What a wonderful stay at the Shelburne Lodge! Great location, amazing Irish breakfast with delicious brown bread and lovely hosts! Tom, Maura and Liz was so warm and welcoming! We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with them every morning. Lodge was beautiful. Room was comfortable. What more could you ask for!

We would like to say a bit thank you to Tom, Moira and Liz for such a lovely time in their house. I could go on and on on how beautiful this place is from the second you get onto the drive way to getting to your room. It is a very old house but nonetheless comfortable, quiet and beautiful.... More

Lovely historic house, set in pleasant gardens a short walk from Kenmare centre. One can see why Shelburne chose this place. The rooms are sympathetically decorated and quiet due to the heavy construction. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom has good water pressure and hair dryer etc. Tom's wife I understand has a restaurant in town which we ate... More

Tom, Maura and Liz were beyond gracious and welcoming. The location is terrific - an easy walk into delightful Kenmare. The room and beds were very comfortable, overlooking a lovely back garden. The linens were sumptuous. The breakfast selections were varied and obviously all homemade. They were the best we had on our trip. It was so delightful that we... More

Tom and Maura as well as Liz could not have been more accommodating. Their advices were spot on. The breakfasts were a treat if a touch overwhelming. Personal attention to each guest seems to be a trademark. A touch of history is included in your stay. The location is centrally convenient to a variety of activities. Definitely put this one... It really is. You get treated so well by the lovely hosts, Maura and Tom. The whole ambience is gracious and relaxing. The lovely old house was surrounded by a delightful garden with old-fashioned climbing roses and ivy. The weather was very hot but as soon as you got back to the elegant drawing-room you felt restored. Our bedroom was... More

Tom and Maura are warm, gracious and caring hosts. Their house is solid, comfortable and very charming. This guest house is large enough so that you can meet others, but not so big that it feels impersonal. It has a lively vibe (but not too noisy... we didn't hear a thing once we were in our room!) Kenmare is a... More
