Lovely historic house, set in pleasant gardens a short walk from Kenmare centre. One can see why Shelburne chose this place. The rooms are sympathetically decorated and quiet due to the heavy construction. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom has good water pressure and hair dryer etc. Tom's wife I understand has a restaurant in town which we ate... More

Tom, Maura and Liz were beyond gracious and welcoming. The location is terrific - an easy walk into delightful Kenmare. The room and beds were very comfortable, overlooking a lovely back garden. The linens were sumptuous. The breakfast selections were varied and obviously all homemade. They were the best we had on our trip. It was so delightful that we... More

Tom and Maura as well as Liz could not have been more accommodating. Their advices were spot on. The breakfasts were a treat if a touch overwhelming. Personal attention to each guest seems to be a trademark. A touch of history is included in your stay. The location is centrally convenient to a variety of activities. Definitely put this one... It really is. You get treated so well by the lovely hosts, Maura and Tom. The whole ambience is gracious and relaxing. The lovely old house was surrounded by a delightful garden with old-fashioned climbing roses and ivy. The weather was very hot but as soon as you got back to the elegant drawing-room you felt restored. Our bedroom was... More

Tom and Maura are warm, gracious and caring hosts. Their house is solid, comfortable and very charming. This guest house is large enough so that you can meet others, but not so big that it feels impersonal. It has a lively vibe (but not too noisy... we didn't hear a thing once we were in our room!) Kenmare is a... More

Tom and Moira are friendly and gracious hosts. The house itself is rather grand surrounded by a lovely big garden. As befitting a grand house the room we stayed in had high ceilings and lots of light. There is a wonderful library with open fire to relax in. The breakfast was excellent. Would return,

The prior reviewers are right: this place is terrific. We just spent 2 nights here. Tom and Mara are just so cordial, friendly and helpful. And Mara is a master chef with the morning breakfast, which always features a fresh catch of the day, if you feel like fish. Great pancakes with Mara's family recipe, too. The interior is just... We spent 2 nights here during our 2 week trip around Ireland. The accommodation was lovely, we stayed in the coach house which is outside but very well done. Its a short walk into town which has plenty of shops and pubs. Breakfast is great and definitely one of the best we had Ireland. Our hosts were delightful and made... More

We stayed one night at Shelburne Lodge and we only wished we had planned to stay longer. The rooms all offer individual charm and are finished to a high standard. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and were treated to freshly brewed tea and coffee and cake! The Lodge is located 500m from the town centre, so it's an easy... More

We truly enjoyed our two night stay at the Shelburne Lodge. It is a gracious, historic building, with generously sized, charmingly furnished rooms with en suite bathrooms. The hosts were welcoming and knowledgable about the area, ready with recommendations from restaurants to sights, to the best way to get where you are going. The breakfasts were wonderful, enhanced by fresh... More
