Sallyport was the perfect launching point for a Ring of Beara tour (and Janie thoughtfully provided us with a great map) and for visiting Killarney National Park. If you love birds, you will enjoy seeing the large variety that visit their feeders and perhaps a pheasant stroll the grounds. The smoked salmon for breakfast was the best and most generous... More

On our recent trip to the southern half of Ireland - from Dublin to Clifden - our party of 4 stayed at 11 inns in 17 nights. All were hand-picked by me after a lot of research on multiple websites. Sallyport House was my favorite for all the right reasons (wonderful hostess, Janie; great breakfast, quiet location and beautiful stroll... More

We absolutely loved staying at Sallyport House. It is a beautiful home in a great, quiet location on the edge of Kenmare. There is a great history to the home and is full of beautiful antiques. Janie was a wonderful hostess with lots of help and hints for us in our sightseeing. The breakfast was great with lots of choices... More

What can I say---beautiful house, beautiful comfortable clean rooms. OUr hostess was so charming and full of information about the area. The walk to town is not really a walk --it is a lovely stroll around the edge of the bay to walk thru the gardens of a park hotel and end up in the middle of town!!--5 minute max... More

We loved the Sallyport House and the wonderful Janie, our hostess. The house is beautiful and has a long, interesting history. The house is filled with antiques and is kept spotless. Janie was extremely helpful without being intrusive. She would dig out her maps and explain how to get to certain places plus provide interesting shortcuts so we could avoid... More

near Kenmare, perfect for exploring Ring of Kerry or Dingle. You can walk into town from Sallyport...this small inn is kept in the most perfect condition...absolutely spotless. The innkeeper greets you at the door with just the right amount of information, given quite quickly, with friendliness and consideration. The inn is filled with antiques, lovely rugs and windows with views... More

We used Sallyport house as our base for 5 nights in Kenmare. Perfectly located within walking distance to town which has some of the best restaurants in Ireland. From here we were easily able to do Kilarney National Park, Ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula as well as just walk around the lovely town. Jane is a wonderful hostess and the... More

Lovely large rooms and breakfast to match. Good views over surrounding countryside and the Kenmare river. Helpful host pointing out best places to visit in and around Kenmare in particular the spectacular Beara peninsular. Packie's restaurant in Kenmare is well worth a visit --we are hoping the chef will move to London

A win-win situation. You stay in Kenmare and not in Killarney and so avoid tousands on Americans who come to Killarney and in local pubs demand from local musicians to sing Sweet home Alabama or Country road.. Kenmare is a smaller and much more beautifull place allowing you to see both - Kerry and Beara peninsula.. Sallyport house - unique,... More
