Those looking for cozy budget accommodation in the area should give this place a go. It has a great range of accommodation options a good communal kitchen area and a great bar and restaurant as part of the complex. The staff are friendly and helpful and the wilderness is very close, no cellphone coverage.

The staff are friendly, the facilities cheap. And most importantly the beer is good. The view is amazing, and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. We were in a camper, and there was plenty of room. Wish I was there now!

I stayed there for 1 night and found: - very friendly staff - beautiful mountain & valley views - basic but clean & well functioning - good restaurant with friendly waitress and bartender - tasty jaeger schnitzel chicken with enormous portions

Stayed here in early February on our way to Queenstown. The A frame cans are really well presented and were very clean and tidy. They are a bit dated but are great value. The park is really quiet after the traffic stops passing for the day. A great little place.

We arrived here after driving through from Franz Josef - a stunning drive that we took all day to do as there was so much to stop and look at. Just do it! Anyway, we had booked here because we didn't want to go into Wanaka during the Christmas holidays (you have been warned). Well this was a perfect choice.... More

I have been staying here regularly over the last few years, but was a bit disappointed on this last visit. Our request for a particular cabin was 'not received' and so we ended up near the road. They didn't seem too bothered. Power cut on last night meant we couldn't cook (or see anything!), yet it wasn't even mentioned as... More

We stayed in a campervan overnight. It was a really beautiful spot in the mountains to stay at. Kitchen facilities were good and well stocked with equipment. Shower cubicles a bit small but adequate. Restaurant nearby is a good option if you don't want to cook.

Some of the a frame chalet,s contain beds only and at $70.00 per night you can get much better accomadation elsewhere .This is really just a campground with cabins . The scenery around Makarora is stunning and well worth a visit .

We stopped here for a coffee and lunch on the drive from Franz Josef to Queenstown, the staff were very friendly and the service was really good, the food was really nice and tasty and the coffee was also good. The views from the chairs outside are lovely. Will definatley stop here again when passing in the future.

Stop for sandwich and coffee plus sending my postcard. The place definitely had a great view. They got a souvenir shops also, and now i know they also got a place to stay.. Except the coffee and sandwich i had not much to say, because only stop for half an hour. The food there, got some choices..
