We booked the Black Boy for an overnight stay, it's a lovely old Inn in a pretty town centre. Really delighted with our room, overlooking the town centre. Very large and spacious, with a large clean bathroom. I would say newly refurbished. Only small criticism was the bed was a bit uncomfortable. The pub area is nice, had a good... More

Nice friendly staff, good location in the centre of town. We were on the top floor so a bit of a climb for those with dodgey knees. Room was clean & tidy with seperate bathroom also seperate bedroom for 3rd person. Breakfast was appreciated after a night on the beer!

My Husband, myself, daughter and fiancee stayed at this Hotel for one Night. We found the accomodation lovely, I believe we had room 3 overlooking the market square, it was clean and the bed was comfortable with loads of space , ensuite etc. We liked the idea we could come and go with a seperate door to the outside. Daughter... More

I stayed here for 1 night whilst working in the area. The Black Boy is excellent value for money and rooms are great. I found the staff to be fantastic and I had a good chat with the locals also who where very friendly. The food was excellent value, cooked breakfast excellent. You also get a key so you can... More

We stayed for one night as we were attending a party nearby. We had room 3 and it was lovely. Very spacious with a big bed, sofa and a bath in the en suite. It was clean and warm - very pleasant. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling too well so I missed breakfast but my husband enjoyed his! I found the... More

A further visit to the Black Boy was very disappointing. My jacket potato has been pre cooked and blackened. On my plate the prawn sauce mixed with black charred potato skin and was very unappetising. My mothers shepherds pie was ok ish but her vegetables badly cooked undercooked/tough/cheap.

Booked a room for a wedding weekend. Ive never felt so unwelcome, uncomfortable and belittled from the manager of a hotel in all my life. As soon as you set foot through the door they literally rush you for payment as if you're some kind of jewellery thief in a balaclava about to do a runner. Thought this was a... More

Location perfect, nice clean room if not a tad on the small side, friendly staff, decent brekkie, can't complain. Stayed here for 2 nights last weekend. Paid 170 for a double room for 2 which included breakfast. The room was tidy and quite modern, the bed was a tad small but I am quite big. Can't complain really.

I needed to find somewhere in Sudbury to stay overnight in order to attend a course early the next day. Google mapped the town centre and found The Black Boy. Booked through Booking dot com (Not recommended as they failed to make it clear that the arrival time needed to be before 20:30 a fact that I discovered at the... More

Stayed here for one night with my wife and one year old son in one of the family rooms. The rooms were very clean and modern and the bonus of having adjoining rooms was a real plus. The owners and staff were rally helpful and welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. We eat dinner and breakfast in the hotel... More
