My wife and myself made a reservation for Sunday lunch 1.30pm14th June, we were not happy on our previous visit early 2008, but we hoped it may have improved ....arriving at 12.10pm, at 1pm no one else had entered the bar or taken a seat in the restaurant it was like the Marie Celeste........It is a restaurant we have used... more

The Peacock is a small stone-clad hotel standing on a busy road in an otherwise tranquil village amidst beautiful Derbyshire Peak District scenery. It used to be a simple hotel used mainly by fisherman hunting for trout on the nearby Rivers Wye and Derwent. Its owned by the smaller of the two great estates in the area, Haddon Hall, home... more

My partner treated me to a nights stay at the Peacock in Rowsley, for our anniversary. We've had our eye on it for a while, and thought it would be great to dress for dinner and enjoy the surroundings of this hotel. The evening was lovely, but when it came to checking out, our bar bill was extortionate. We discovered... more

We enjoyed one night at the Peacock on a Dinner, B and B basis. The hotel is within a really old building but has been sypathetically updated internally to give a modern feel without losing period features. Our room (no1) was well furnished and the bathroom, though small was really well finshed with high quality fitting and a great shower.... more

stopped by the Peacock for dinner on a recent outing to the Peak district. On arrival we asked if it would be possible to dine in the restaurant that evening, we were told it was possible but then we were given bar menus, surprised we asked if this was all they were serving this evening and the Lady "manager" appeared... more

1. Beware Room 8 - the bathroom is so tiny and narrow you won't be able to sit on the loo and lean forward, as the sink will be in the way. If you are large you probably won't be able to stand at the sink and shut the door behind you either. 2. Beware stealth charges. The all-inclusive dinner... more

My husband and I stayed for two night to combine business and pleasure. The hotel is situated on a busy main road, so beware with rooms at the front of the hotel, rooms are double glazed to cut the noise. The hotel staff were great, generally young and from a wide range of backgrounds, and very knowledgable and helpful. The... more

I have to say that some of the reviews on this site made me hesitant to stay at The Peacock but the offer for a Sunday night was so good (dinner and breakfast all included with the rate) that I had to take a chance. Needless to say I am glad we went. The service from all the staff was... more

We stayed at the Peacock for the first and last time , at a time when we were in much need of relaxation. We found the reviews great , and based on that we booked our stay. The location is amazing in a beautiful part of Derbyshire, and on arrival the hotel was exactly as we expected it. Our room however... more

This was the 2nd time we visited the Peacock - the first was for a meal which was, without a doubt the single best dining experience I have ever had - the food and service and surroundings were all absolutely perfect. Two years on and I was taken there as a suprise to stay in the gorgeous rooms, and me... more
