Me and my partner stopped for one night, we love matlock so was looking forward to a night away. Our room was quite clean but room needs updating desperately, carpet was stained and dingy. We had no cups in our room or glasses. For £60 per night I was quite shocked. All being said it is in a good location.

Well where do I start.... Me and my husband visited Matlock for a Sunday treat we had walked all day and was in need of a good Sunday lunch.. We came to the boat house and our feet needed a rest and we was in need of a drink.. From outside it was a bit messy drainpipe hanging down, dirty... More

We didn't stay in the hotel but we went into the pub for lunch and a drink so we could walk to the Christmas market afterwards. The food took ages and it was cold, and horrible and non of the staff seemed to know what they were doing.. I don't mind a bit of shabby round the edges when it... More

We booked into the family room. First impressions were not very good as it was a small and very dingy room due to the lack of natural light (the building was next to a sheer cliff face!). On further inspection the room was dirty including hair on the kettle lid which turned my stomach. The toilet/ bathroom was ensuite but... More

The Boathouse is small and cosy. I rang before arrival for advice on booking taxis and they were really helpful. We had a friendly greeting and a lovely, clean and airy room. It was right on the main road but noise was minimal until the bikers started arriving into Matlock...but that's Matlock and wasn't an issue. A lovely full English... More

Not particularly friendly welcome. My husband asked what time breakfast was on the Sunday and we were advised between 9.00am and 10.00am. I thought this was a big strange as check out time is 10.00am so you are left with the impression that there's a hurry to get you out. This was a bit of a problem as we needed... More

I am a self employed builder and work commitment took me to matlock for two weeks . The boathouse is a small family run pub and b and b .The present owners and staff are very friendly ,helpfull, and generally all nice people. The pub etc is slightly dated but with a little bit of TLC would be a very popular venue... Stayed for two nights in May 2014 as single business traveller. Old pub now under recent change of ownership. Only has four rooms. All rooms en-suite with shower. My room was clean and the bed comfortable. No issues with noise from pub below as rooms over breakfast area. Breakfast was excellent, evening meal also good. Although whole building probably overdue... More

My wife, her father and I were driving through Matlock looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch when we came upon the Boat House. There was a carvery from which my father in law and I both ordered a Sunday roast. When I mentioned to the landlady that my wife was a vegetarian she immediately offered to prepare some veggie sausages... More
