Nikki and Stuart made our stay at Riber Hall. Nikki welcomed us, served us in the bar and restaurant and generally ran the place. Stuart is an excellent chef! However, they could really have done with more staff to help as with Stuart in the kitchen and guests in both the lounge and restaurant, poor Nikki was left to run... more

We used this hotel as our base for a few days' sightseeing. It's a hidden gem; really quiet with old-world charm and atmosphere. The owner-managers were most professional and really welcoming, with the food being first rate. The rooms are very quaint, with antique furnishings and 4-poster beds; our one criticism would have to be that there are a few... more

Great place & food but the bar prices would not be out of place at the Savoy in London. Also so little choice. When asked why they had no draught ales the excuse was that they did not have a cellar - what was that down the steps of the door to the left just before you enter the "bar"?... more

We have just returned from 2 nights at Riber Hall Hotel. The hotel is a fabulous 'olde worlde' place and the furniture is authentic to the hotel. It is a little bit like stepping back in time, which is great and adds to the ambience. The history of the hotel is really interesting and if you ask, Stuart 'knows his... more

Reading other reviews we were a bit nervous after booking our room, it was all unfounded. We arrived at a beautiful and ancient building with lots and lots of character. Our room, complete with four poster bed and large bathroom was filled with antiques (except for the flatscreen TV) and had a lovely view. The gardens are spectacular. Food was... more

We really enjoyed our stay. The managers were really friendly and helpful, gave good service and were very accomodating of the dog we brought. The food was lovely, good quality ingredients well cooked by Stuart but still overpriced I thought. The buildings and gardens were gorgous, the hall is high up above matlock with lovely views. The decor and look... more

just back from riber hall. booked it as a birthday treat for my hubby. lovely location in beautiful grounds. you must like olde wolde to stay here as we did. we loved the old rooms and open fires, the slightly faded and worn look. we had a master suite with 4 poster bed which was fab. the cleanliness could have... more

Although we booked late on the Friday evening, we were given an option of the bridal suite for £125 per night, so after working really hard for nearly two years without a break I thought we'd splash out and booked for two nights. We entered the hall in the early evening and was greeted eventually by the chef/receptionist/bellboy/barman. He was... more
