this is my second visit to the riber hotel, the first being earlier this year, i'd heard it had been taken over by new management and felt compelled to visit. it hasnt changed much apart from the more personal touch that is now received, the mangement are extremely welcoming, and always on hand for any queries, General Manager stuart who... more

Our breaks are very rare and far between - to find Riber Hall as wonderful as it was surpassed all our expectations. With relatively new management that are an asset to the owner, this hotel is a must for those who want to get away from it all and unwind. The service was tremendous, any request dealt with professionaly but... more

The hotel is in a great position - but be aware you need your walking boots! Good downhill walk to Matlock Baths to enjoy the cable car ride and see the lead mine. It is actually quicker to walk back via the footpath near the station at Matlock than it is to drive as we were enjoying our first drink... more

Basically, our negative experience turned into a positive one, so I'll start with the negative. Our initial impression on arrival this past Easter Weekend was, "Where do we check in?" We thought the signage could be a little better. It was eerily quiet once we got in the entrance and checked in. The host showed us to our room (Master... more

We had stayed at this hotel in its good old days when it was voted most romantic hotel in England. We enjoyed it so much last time we were there that my husband picked it for a special birthday treat. The staff (3 in total over a full Easter weekend) did their admirable best but the odds were stacked very... more

having experienced Riber Hall on saturday they can clearly not cope with a full hotel but are still quite happy to charge full rates. There are some far better hotels in the area. Be warned more

We had a really enjoyable night at Riber Hall. If you want a really comfortable night and especially helpful and friendly staff, this is the place to stay. I wouldn't say that everything is perfect, but we would have no hesitation whatsoever going back again. Tim & Jane more

All looked promising as we drove into the hall, lovely situation and an undeniably pretty building. We checked into a rather tired old room caught somewhere between a BnB and a foolish attempt to haul the" guest experience"into the 21st century. Sadly a cheap lcd television of a size that required a telescope to view,[and believe me the room was not... more

This is a lovely period property with plenty of charm, but it simply does not live up to the price tag. The room was nicely furnished with a four poster bed, but the noise of the TV from the room above was an irritation, as was the phone in our room which did not work. The biggest disappointment by far... more
