Overall a good experience, breakfast adequate and a good selection. The pub serves good pub food in a cosy local pub. Stayed two nights but did not get the room refreshed after our first night so I did have to ask for loo roll which was a bit embarrassing but all in all a good stay.

Friendly local pub, rooms situated at former stable block at side of pub, comfy bed, tea/coffee making facilities, towels& toiletries, en suite shower room. We stayed in Rm 6 to celebrate our anniversary. 10-15 min walk into Matlock but steep hill when walking back so well ready for a drink in the pub on return, lovely friendly welcoming pub that... very friendly welcome from Liz the landlady. The rooms are in converted stables next to main pub building. The rooms are small but comfortable. I think most people stay for 1 night only in which case this hotel is perfect. We stayed for 3 nights as met up with friends and the lack of space was more noticeable. Food was... More

Stayed for one night in this converted barn beside country pub. Owners very friendly. Beds v comfortable. Hairdryer on request. Shower room quite small but modern. Breakfast good. Could do with full length mirror in room and tourist info. Also, just one bedside table in twin room.

I had the good fortune of being able to book my own hotel for a course I had to attend in Matlock. I stayed in the beautiful little stone cottages out the back, I think I was in number 3, comfy bed, clean and quaint. Really pretty surroundings, overlooking parts of the dales. I spent the majority of my evenings... More

We booked just one night bed and breakfast here after travelling down from Scotland. It's a lovely olde worlde pub with a cosy atmosphere. We had an evening meal which was delicious. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice of foods. We could recommend a stay at this pub.

The rooms themselves are in a refurbished building round the back of the pub, which meant that they are nice and quiet and make for a good night's sleep. The refurb means that the rooms look initially nice (better than the website photos) but there are a few areas which have been overlooked: the plug socket in our room was... More

I stayed on the 2nd of April, with my husband for the night. Easily checked in upon arrival, lady who dealt with us was very nice, friendly and helpful. Very impressed with the room, nicely decorated! Shower room pretty small but had a lovely hot shower which is all you need. Didn't manage to use the pub for dinner as... More
