Wanted a couple of night break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life so decided to take a drive and see where we landed. We ended up in Matlock and after taking a walk around the village, we decided we would stay here. Looking for a place to stay at 4 o'clock in the afternoon we came across... More

Great find. We stayed for one night and ate dinner in the pub it was easily the best and cheapest meal we had in our 4 days short break. The staff are incredibly helpful and make you feel very welcome. This is a genuine proper pub with a coal fire and lots of atmosphere. We had a family room and... More

Nice warm very clean room with good bed. Seems as though a hay loft had been converted or other old building as rooms were separate from the pub. We stayed two nights and ate in the pub as the food was exceptionally good value for money. Choices varied and food was well presented. good breakfasts too. The shower was the... More

Stayed here with loads of family for my wedding and had nothing but trouble with the booking start to finish, there was no communication between staff members!!! If we hadn't rang before all the rooms would have been cancelled for some reason even though we paid deposits, plus we had breakfast in the morning and we got rushed by a... More

We stayed here for one night over the Matlock Christmas Fayre weekend. The rooms are in converted stables in a separate area to the main pub building. All the rooms have recently been refurbished by the new managerial team - of almost a year - Liz and Kev. Our room was nicely decorated, warm and extremely clean. Had a wonderful... More

There seem to be some very unfair reviews on here about this place. I arrived on a busy Friday night but even though the staff had their hands full with a pub full of customers I was made very welcome and checked in immediately. I was shown to my room which was a nicely renovated out building near the car... More

Wanted a short break for our 10th wedding anniversary and looked at reviews of Matlock. The Duke looked pretty good and we're pleased to say we had an excellent stay. Although on a busy T-junction it was very quite. The bar was well stocked with a good choice of wines and real ales. Food choice ranged from 2 for £10... More

Having checked reviews of hotels and B& B's in Matlock, we opted for the Duke of Wellington. Choice was based on reviews of a friendly welcome, and they weren't wrong. What a breath of fresh air to find a bubbly landlady, pleasant staff, and good home cooked food. Room was clean and had all we needed, bed could have been... More

We stopped here for one and was really pleased with what we found, we were situated in what i believe was the old stable blocks, the room was very well decorated, and immaculately clean, the bedding and towels looked like brand new.!! The bathroom was just as good, nicely tiled and not one spot of mold anywhere. the electric heating... More
