Room small but clean & functional. A desk/work surface & chair in the room would be helpful to the business traveller. Using the TV was a bit of a palaver (2 remotes but you still had to work the satellite box manually). Food was unpretentious pub grub but was good, breakfast had fresh fruit which was welcome. Overall excellent value... More

We decided to visit Derbyshire quite late and our hotel options were very limited. Bakewell was full, so we chose Matlock and the Duke of Wellington looked the best of the options based on feedback. Check in was efficient and easy, although we'd carried our bags in only to go back out - all rooms are at the back, external... More

We stayed at the Duke of Wellington last night and really enjoyed it. The room was lovely and clean and excellent value for money. If we had stayed longer the food looked lovely and we did enjoy breakfast this morning. We took our yorkshire terrier, which was no problem at all, he even came down to breakfast with us. We... More

Went to the Thursday quiz night at the Duke of Wellington. The pub was very lively and well attended. The quizmaster was excellent, despite being a Leeds United fan. It is quite a varied quiz with a picture round, general knowledge round, a game of bingo and a 'chase the ace' competition. Large plates of sandwiches with various fillings were... More

The rooms are spacious, well equiped, clean and well maintained. We stopped for just one night over the may day bank holiday and we will hopefully be going back again. We opted to have the breakfast and again it was very good value for money and very well cooked. The staff are attentive and courteous and nothing is too much... More

Stayed here with my husband and 2 children. Room was fantastic, spacious, clean and had kids bunk beds in an adjoining room. Teatime menu was reasonably priced and fantastic choices for us and the kids. Wide variety of real ales. Breakfast was brilliant, wide choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, juices and cooked items made fresh to order. Staff were great and... More

Did not stop in the B&B but have had a few lunches here and the 2 for £10 deal is really good value. We have tried quite a few things on the menu and all meals have been excellent until recently. Went last week and had the fish chips and peas ( for the 3rd time ) and have to... More

Stayed here again on business. This changed hands very recently, staff are lovely, some attention has been paid to the rooms. The regulars in the pub are still as funny and good to talk to as the last time. The food was excellent and the wine list sufficient. I didn't see a reason to venture out to find another place... Even though our party had booked the pub did not open on time.they were short staffed (only one barman. Who also served the meals) meals ok but empty plates not cleared away.Ordered coffee but grew tired of waiting and we all left with no apology.
