A group of us stayed here on new years eve as we were bridesmaids for our friends wedding at Stancliffe Hall down the road. The B&B is lovely, the couple who run it are very friendly and welcoming, rooms are lovely, shower powerful and hot, and homemade biscuits/flapjack with the tea and coffee were so delicious that we took the... Our 2 night stay with Anne and John was perfect. From the hotel like touches in the bedroom and bathroom, to the beautifully cooked English breakfast each morning we couldn't find fault with anything. A great source of local information on walks and places to dine, we would definitely recommend Ellen House to anyone and will be coming back next... More

Ann & John are delightful hosts...the house and the bedrooms are well appointed more like a 5 star hotel, but at the same time very cosy. Attention to detail makes this a great place to stay. Tea & Coffee making facilities in every room, topped off with Ann's home baked biscuits. The choice of breakfast in the morning is a... More

We found this place by mistake as we were looking for somewhere to stay in Bakewell but everything was booked up. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we found a luckily available room at Ellen house. The room was immaculate with lots of personal touches such as sweets and cakes, towels tied with ribbons and a... More

This is a lovely place that I highly recommend! Anne and John are welcoming and kind hosts who really pay attention to detail. Anne welcomed us with biscuits and our room had a variety of types of tea (this is not always the case -- many places only have plain and decaf and there are a lot of us herbal... More

The welcome we received at this Bed and Breakfast was superb, and I cannot fault anything about the food, the room, the house and the lovely hosts. The thing that really clinched it for me was the attention to detail, it was more like a 5 star hotel with beautiful bed linen, towels, toiletries etc. That is not to mention... More

Ellen House is a delightful places as are the owners. The only slight downfall was being able to hear running water in another room. Despite this, we would return and recommend. More

We have had lots of visits to the UK but never before visited the Peak District. We stayed at Ellen House and it was an absolute pleasure. We stayed in the Garden Room which has access out to a beautiful garden. Anne and John our hosts made everything so lovely for us, Anne would cook little treats and leave them... More
