Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend & we had a fantastic time. The hosts are absolutley amazing & go out there way if you need anything. The room we had was number 2 and was very nice & comfortable. The wifi was the best ive ever used, very fast not like mine at home. Now to the breakfasts, they... More

On a quiet cul-de-sac with easy parking and 5 min walk from Matlock town centre and railway station. We had Room 3 overlooking the terraced garden where we took picnics with fresh produce from nearby Sainsbury's a 5 min walk away. Our room had a comfortable double bed with small en-suite WC and shower. A variety of breakfasts available all... More

So comfortable, every thing thought of, absolutely delicious breakfast but above all, wonderfully hosted. Loved the South African touches in the decor. Excellent location close to station and town. Would highly recommend.

We expected this B&B to be good because we had read previous Tripadvisor reports, and we certainly weren't disappointed. The room was not large but was comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. Parking was easy, only just across the road in a residents permitted car-park. We were welcomed by Anne and there were home-made healthy muffins in our... More

Fishing on the Derbyshire Wye, hotels along with B&B's had been recommended within the Peak District National Park adjacent to the fishing location. They seemed fully booked, I then took the plunge and went for a B&B slightly outside the area of our proposed fishing venues. Well I couldn't have found a better place to stay! We booked a last minute weekend in Matlock and stumbled on Ellen House. The location is perfect (just a few minutes walk from the town centre but very quiet, close to the train station too). The welcome was warm, the food excellent, the room spotless. If I was being forced to be picky the only thing I might say (we... More

Lovely place to stay run with much attention to detail. Huge selection on breakfast menu. Breakfast very nice especially the home made jam and marmelade. Very conveniently located for public transport users, like us (2 min. Walk to train and bus station). Nice back garden that can be used by residents.very friendly and helpfull owners. We recommend it!

With 4 nights for the price of 3, John and Anne provided the impeccable service and delicious and varied breakfasts all the other reviewers rave about. We had Room3 which opened onto the terraced garden where we had picnics in the evening sunshine. Provisions were from supermarket within 5 minute walk. Comfortable bedroom with proper coffee and tea making and... More

We got back today from a two night stay with Anne & John. What a lovely couple and a really smashing B & B!!! The rooms were homely and comfortable (especially the beds) and the food....well what can I say?? Probably the best breakfast I have ever eaten in a B & B ...her sister makes the jam & marmalade... Stayed here for 2 nights in the may day bank holiday weekend. Lovely b and b. Nice bright clean room. Felt very welcome the whole time. Beautiful garden. Good location. The breakfast was yummy. I would not normally mention jam and marmalade, however this was home made, and with the quality bread, was the best I have ever tasted. There... More

Thank you for the very complimentary review about our B&B. We work hard to keep the rooms and garden in tip top condition and it is good to know that it is appreciated by our guests. As I mentioned before, the award winning yummy jams and marmalades are made by my talented sister. We also get our bacon and sausages... More
