We visited here just for lunch in the restaurant on a Monday with friends and the service was terrible. The specials displayed were not available which the waitress only discovered after we had ordered and paid for them. In then took a further 45 minutes for our meals to be served. At best the meals were average quality.

We wanted to get away from it all for a night to refresh ourselves and chose this pub as it has dog friendly accommodation. We only planned to stay one night but after the first night and dinner we booked for a second night as it was so wonderful. The food was superb, the fish and chips, delicious and super... More

my wife & i had travelled from our home in France on our way to Manchester airport & decided to break our journey in Derbyshire - our choice was the Travellers Rest and it turned out to be an excellent cholice with beautiful scenery and close to both kennels for our dog anthe airport itself.

We've just returned from a 2 night stay, travelling with our dog. Lovely to see they welcomed dogs, the room was fine; clean with all you need (although bigger towels would have been welcome). Lovely, friendly staff from start to finish, the food was also great, especially the lamb chops, reared by the owners! The room was fine, a bit... More

Stayed two nights to attend a family wedding nearby. The room was clean and comfortable. Service was good and friendly. Breakfasts were superb. Real ale also superb. The only quibble was the burger I had on the first night. It did not live up to expectations but was adequate. Overall, great value.

We stayed here last year and it was great hence return this year. The rooms were filthy could write names in dust and dirt. Food was awful got served raw chicken actually raw not borderline and was then asked if I wanted it cooked some more. Complained to hotel by email and letter and didn't even get a response. Lack... Excellent spot for local walks and best 'farmers' DIY in a large area. Service is always very good, the bar maid is lovely very helpful and attentive. Shows an interest in her customers. The food is seved freshly made, consists of large portions and represents good value. Compares very favourably with local competition.

Good choice of food on the menu, most of the meat was from local farm shop but the lamb was said to have been reared by the owners, had lamb sheperds pie and pork chop with black pudding .and caramalised apple and new potatoes, huby managed all the lamb ( small portion served as requested and in a bowl hence... Booked into this pub/B n B for a couple of days walking and was pleasantly surprised by the high standards and excellent value for money. Very clean and comfortable rooms with a good roomy shower in the bathroom. Impressive attention to detail -photos of the local area in rooms. Good food at a good price, excellent beers and friendly staff.... More
