I called into The Red Lion on a very busy market day in Bakewell. The pub was really busy and lively but there were plenty of bar staff to take my order and serve me a drink. From the specials board I chose the chicken, bacon and cheese sandwich served with homemade chips and salad for £5.95. The food arrived... More

we stayed for one night, and no problems. it was your typical pub accommodation, as we expected. very comfortable room, and shower, and a nice little pub in lovely bakewell no parking facilities didn't worry us as we had no car anyway. overall for our budget it was a ideal place for us to stop.

Stopped in for lunch and had a good lunch washed down by a great pint of Real Ale (Bitter). The atmosphere is good - typical pub. The menu is also typical pub fare, with me having a choice of Beef & Ale Pie or Fish & chips. Went for the beef pie & chips - home made, served hot and... More

We stayed for two nights with another couple. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable, breakfast was excellent a prepared to order. The staff were friendly and attentive. On the second night we had dinner too which was plentiful and very tasty. Parking is an issue but that was easily overcome with a parking permit from 4pm till... More

We stayed for three nights as a group of ours were walking along the Monsal Trail. The accomodation was ok although the single bed had a sweat inducing plastic sheet as its mattress cover. However, our biggest criticism was the atrocious and unusable parking system. The pub does not have a car park but has a permit system with the... More

There are several car parks that allow all day parking so it’s not clear to us as to why you were not able to park your car for longer than 5 hours. In addition to this we contacted you 1 month prior to your stay regarding parking at the Red Lion, stating quite clearly that we do not guarantee free... More

We stayed over the bank holiday, a good centrall location for all the walks and attractions of the town, yet still nice and quiet at night. Very friendly staff, nice clean comfy rooms. The breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and piping hot, with good choice. Will return.

Me and my partner stayed here for the Easter weekend. Large enough room, and very clean. The bed was quite firm, not the comfiest bed we've stayed in. Good sized bathroom. As it has single glazed windows and is a pub it was quite loud at night when people we're stood outside the door of the pub. Although it has... More

Clean, tidy, central and friendly. All the boxes were ticked for me. Not very luxurious in the slightest but that's not what I go for anyway on a little break. The rooms have quite thin walls so it wasn't very private which I did find a bit awkward. The pub itself is great, a proper old style pub with some... More

We've been coming here for the last few years and it never disappoints. The service and staff are always brilliant, the food is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. We ate here four times last week and every time the food was delicious, proper chips, good size portions and excellent quality food. The only thing that isn't excellent are... More
