Very helpful staff, good food, comfortable bed, lovely cooked breakfast. We liked the traditional pub atmosphere - there are games you can borrow - ask the bar staff. the sleeping arrangements were comfortable. VERY centrally placed to explore Bakewell easily. You will need to park off site but there is easy parking just outside to unload your bags.

Initially sat outside as two grandchildren were playing up, however staff said it was ok to bring in and we sat at a corner table, glad to say they soon settled down. The terrible twosome had kids pizza which they soon demolished, the adults followed suit with chilli con carne, beef burger and fish and chips. All very enjoyable and... More

on the many occassions we've visited Beautiful Bakewell we always seem to end up in the Red Lion for dinner, the atmosphere if welcoming and food is always excellent quality. very disappointed last time we visited to find it closed for refurbishment but hopefully this will only help to make the place an even better establishment

We wandered upon this while walking around fabulous little traditional pub and the staff were very very friendly!! We ordered 2 large 1small wine and four meals it came to a very very reasonable £43.00 the food was Served very promptly but not quickly enough to think it was microwaved! We sat around that back in a basic but nice... More

Right in the middle of Bakewell this pub provides comfortable and clean (if basic) accommodation at a reasonable price. They have a reasonable pub menu with sizeable portions giving you a good value meal. Be aware that the pub can also provide "parking vouchers" which will get you free parking from 4pm-11am (which we missed and ended up paying £10... More

Our first trip to Bakewell, for a family wedding, we only stayed here one night, but wished it was longer! The pub is in the centre of Bakewell and easy to reach from anywhere in town. If you know anything about Bakewell, you'll know parking is a nightmare, parking permits were provided but luckily we didn't have this trouble so... More

Just returned with my wife having spent two nights at the Red Lion. We went to Bakewell mainly to walk the Monsal trail and needed some nearby accommodation. Booked this particular pub because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback on trip advisor and found this to be absolutely deserved. It is situated in the very centre of the town and as... More

We were recently married in Ashford in the water and had our evening reception at The Red Lion. We first met Glen last year when organizing our big day, and he was very accommodating and helpful from the start. On the night a spread of food was put on for the guests, and half the pub sectioned off for our... More
