Stopped for a Sunday Roast but they only had a choice of beef or pork so I opted for steak & ale pie, it was an incredibly small piece of pie - was delicious but looked like a childrens portion. It was then bulked up with overcooked vegetables and their appaently renowned chips. The vegetables with the roast dinners were... More

Thank you for your review, in fact it’s your second review of us, so thanks again for coming back to us for our “delicious and wholesome” food, our “good and friendly” service and our "very generous portions”. We sold over 30 portions of pie on the day of your visit. We have never had a complaint regarding the size of... More

Really lovely homemade good but too many immature bar staff on at one time. The main bar man was the worst - shouting a singing and acting like an excited child! Other bar/waiting staff floating around in the hall way on their phones and hugging each other! Very unprofessional! Would not visit again

My family and I dined at this hotel restaurant and had a fun evening with good food. They were busy and the service was a little slow, but they made up for it in friendliness and helpfulness. The food was good and not overly expensive. I tried the Bakewell pudding in several places and this was the best!

Popped in here while on holiday for dinner early one eveing, very good value for money I had the scampi and was so impressed that it was done in a homemade batter and not the brought in frozen scampi you normally expect to get. We had good service, wanted a pud but helpings were very generous couldnt find room for it.

We had dinner here while staying in Bakewell and found both the food and the service in the dining room very good - we had also tried to book a room but they had none available and being in a main street may have been a bit noisy anyway. We also had a considerable difficulty trying to find a reception... More

We booked to stay at The Red Lion for 2 nights and stayed in Room 1 which was very specious with the view of the high street. The room and general area were exceptionally clean. Overall the pub had lovely character, very friendly staff, great food and very generous portion. Great choice of breakfast. Only drawback was that the shower... More

Stayed with my elderly mum and daughter for two nights .when booking through an agency, I asked if there was a room on ground floor , or one that was easily accessible . When we arrived , it was not ideal for a disabled person , although my mother can walk ,she gets very tired easily ,so we always bring... More

We visited here for lunch after seeing the specials board. The thought of a roast pork or beef barm with home made chips served with salad and gravy sounded excellent and we were not disappointed. The barm was excellent with a good serving of meat and came with Apple sauce and stuffing in the pork. The chips were like wedges... More

We stayed 2 nights in The Red Lion. The reception is in the bar and the staff who checked us in were polite and helpfull. The room was on the small side and the bathroom was tiny (room2) our friends had room 4 which was larger as was the bathroom. However the room was clean and the bedding and towels... More

Went for a fishing break with our partners. While we (the blokes) had a great time on the Wye, the girls shopped in Bakewell. Only spent the night in The Red Lion but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was super. The hospitality was second to none. I would love to return sometime. Highly recommended!
