I stayed at the Red Lion for one night while at a railway exhibition. The hotel is on the main street so rooms at the front could be noisy but when booking I asked for a quiet room and was given a nice room at the side of the hotel. Having said this when I was outside later in the... More

4 out of 5 of our party had the Sunday lunch. Huge portions and understand very tasty. Writer had egg mayo sandwich. Cob was very dry and overall not brilliant. Hot meal best option. Do try. Good value overall

Friendly welcome to a fairly basic pub with a few rooms. Our room was comfortable and clean but with some traffic noise through the window. The bed was fine. Breakfast was self service for everything but the fry up and the toast - once again, basic but good. It would be fair to say that it was good value.

We stayed in room 2, the staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. Room was very clean, basic, but you can get a sense of size from picture on website. Bed comfortable. Breakfast, full English, was delicious, not cheap ingredients like you get in some places, also it was served hot, clearly freshly cooked. We can't recommend this... More

I went to the Red Lion for an evening meal based on TripAdvisor reviews. I will be honest when I went into the pub I wasn't expecting much. I was very much pleasantly surprised. The food was really nice, good quality and the chips were great. Food was very reasonably priced and a very decent size. Would definitely go again.... More

Very helpful staff, good food, comfortable bed, lovely cooked breakfast. We liked the traditional pub atmosphere - there are games you can borrow - ask the bar staff. the sleeping arrangements were comfortable. VERY centrally placed to explore Bakewell easily. You will need to park off site but there is easy parking just outside to unload your bags.

Initially sat outside as two grandchildren were playing up, however staff said it was ok to bring in and we sat at a corner table, glad to say they soon settled down. The terrible twosome had kids pizza which they soon demolished, the adults followed suit with chilli con carne, beef burger and fish and chips. All very enjoyable and... More

on the many occassions we've visited Beautiful Bakewell we always seem to end up in the Red Lion for dinner, the atmosphere if welcoming and food is always excellent quality. very disappointed last time we visited to find it closed for refurbishment but hopefully this will only help to make the place an even better establishment

We wandered upon this while walking around fabulous little traditional pub and the staff were very very friendly!! We ordered 2 large 1small wine and four meals it came to a very very reasonable £43.00 the food was Served very promptly but not quickly enough to think it was microwaved! We sat around that back in a basic but nice... More

Right in the middle of Bakewell this pub provides comfortable and clean (if basic) accommodation at a reasonable price. They have a reasonable pub menu with sizeable portions giving you a good value meal. Be aware that the pub can also provide "parking vouchers" which will get you free parking from 4pm-11am (which we missed and ended up paying £10... More
