We booked to stay at The Red Lion for 2 nights and stayed in Room 1 which was very specious with the view of the high street. The room and general area were exceptionally clean. Overall the pub had lovely character, very friendly staff, great food and very generous portion. Great choice of breakfast. Only drawback was that the shower... More

Stayed with my elderly mum and daughter for two nights .when booking through an agency, I asked if there was a room on ground floor , or one that was easily accessible . When we arrived , it was not ideal for a disabled person , although my mother can walk ,she gets very tired easily ,so we always bring... More

We visited here for lunch after seeing the specials board. The thought of a roast pork or beef barm with home made chips served with salad and gravy sounded excellent and we were not disappointed. The barm was excellent with a good serving of meat and came with Apple sauce and stuffing in the pork. The chips were like wedges... More

We stayed 2 nights in The Red Lion. The reception is in the bar and the staff who checked us in were polite and helpfull. The room was on the small side and the bathroom was tiny (room2) our friends had room 4 which was larger as was the bathroom. However the room was clean and the bedding and towels... More

Went for a fishing break with our partners. While we (the blokes) had a great time on the Wye, the girls shopped in Bakewell. Only spent the night in The Red Lion but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was super. The hospitality was second to none. I would love to return sometime. Highly recommended!

Visited the Red Lion yesterday and as the food looked really nice my three family members and I thought we would eat in there. When went to order the food and asked for a jacket potato or new potatoes with gammon instead of chips was told that would have to pay for the gammon as a meal and pay extra... More

I called into The Red Lion on a very busy market day in Bakewell. The pub was really busy and lively but there were plenty of bar staff to take my order and serve me a drink. From the specials board I chose the chicken, bacon and cheese sandwich served with homemade chips and salad for £5.95. The food arrived... More

Stopped in for lunch and had a good lunch washed down by a great pint of Real Ale (Bitter). The atmosphere is good - typical pub. The menu is also typical pub fare, with me having a choice of Beef & Ale Pie or Fish & chips. Went for the beef pie & chips - home made, served hot and... More

We stayed for two nights with another couple. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable, breakfast was excellent a prepared to order. The staff were friendly and attentive. On the second night we had dinner too which was plentiful and very tasty. Parking is an issue but that was easily overcome with a parking permit from 4pm till... More
