The room was spotlessly clean, as was en suite bathroom. Great breakfast served by Glen and always a smile. Great location for exploring the area, we stayed 4 nights. also given a carparking ticket for between 4pm and 11am. A great help

My wife and I recently visited Bakewell and just popped in the lion for a quick drink, but before we left we spotted the Sunday lunches going out and went back later. We were not disappointed, we both decided to have a meat cob and chips, each came with a side salad, chunky brown chips to die for and a... More

A late lunch at the Red Lion and very nice indeed. Hot beef breadcake, chips, side salad and proper gravy. Very nice. Will remember for our next visit to Bakewell as the staff were very welcoming and very friendly.

Very pleasant sat in the sun in beer garden. Nice drink of lager served in a lager glass. Decided on a pork stuffing and apple sauce with chips and gravy. Breadcake could be better, sliced pork, I guess, was warmed up in micro wave. Overall filled a hole and that's it, nothing special

The reception was friendly, the room comfortable and the breakfast good. It was a quick visit to attend a meeting. From early evening you can ask for a parking ticket and this is valid till 11 the next day. We found this very useful. We can recommend this pub.

Our large group called into the red lion for dinner and liked it so much that we went back again a few days later: The meals are reasonably priced and hearty, the service is efficient and the beer is well kept; we were particularly fond of the home made beef and horse-radish pie on the specials board. If you're in... More

We stayed at the red lion for one night this week whilst visiting bakewell show. The pub is in a great central location and will provide a permit for parking in local car parks between 16:00 and 08:00. The welcome we received was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We accidentally left behind a pair of shoes... More

Lovely lunch, served by excellent bar staff who couldn't do enough, I recommend the hot bread rolls, I would have happily had a basket full of them alone, the meals were obviously locally sourced and of good quality, the price wasn't bad either, well done lads, you made us very welcome and as I watched you were equally as attentive... I stayed at the Red Lion for one night while at a railway exhibition. The hotel is on the main street so rooms at the front could be noisy but when booking I asked for a quiet room and was given a nice room at the side of the hotel. Having said this when I was outside later in the... More
