This lovely old Inn is close to the old river bridge over the river Wye on the outskirts of the town of Bakewell it provides pleasant spacious accommodation all with en suite, available to walkers and dog owners alike together with a friendly old pub with its stone floors, good grub and very friendly staff.

First visit to this pub and very unimpressed. We ordered food and since there was no mention of any waiting time, we assumed we would get our food within half an hour. 40 minutes passed and still no food or communication from the staff, so I approached a "waiter" and asked him where the food was, reminding him it was... Just had lunch in the Castle Inn at Bakewell. On the plus side it had a lovely open fire and nice atmosphere. These were unfortunately far out weighed by the average food, we had a curry which had to be sent back, a tepid and soggy fish and chips and a microwaved jacket potato. Staff were unfriendly and barely replied... More

Stayed one night, food was lovely breakfast to die for but unfortunately the bathroom is in need of some refurbishment. Great location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Car park full on arrival but claire couldn't do enough to accommodate. Do recommend & will return.

I visited today with my 2 friends and children plus wet doggie. The barman was run ragged whilst the woman who appeared to be the "manager" stood around chatting. We placed our order for food and drinks which included a coffee for my friend to drink whilst we waited for said food. This didn't appear so she approached said "manager"... More

Visited today with family & friends. It was empty when we arrived on ordering food & drinks I was told my cappuccino would be brought to my table. After waiting for well over 10mins still no drink. We returned to the bar to order kids drinks & I politely asked about my coffee the women behind the bar was v.abrupt... More

We called in for lunch, wow it was busy, which tells you so much. Had a lovely lunch, good beer nice food, great service (unlike the Peacock) Dogs are allowed in, which can be a mixed blessing, there is a good stone floor area, but also a new carpet! lol Nice staff, so just ask. one negative, regulars don't like... Second visit to the pub. It is so popular so you'd need to book. We had our dog with us and he soon settled in front of the fire. We only had a couple of bowls of soup but it did the job. Friendly service - will be back i'm sure. Parking is a nightmare though not just in the... More

This was our second stay at the Castle, and we were a little unsure as to how the New Year would pan out, having made no arrangements for the evening itself. We arrived in Bakewell midday and it was its usual busy self, but we had no trouble parking. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the Castle Inn after checking... More

Food was nice enough but pretty slow in arriving despite the restaurant being only 3/4 full, the waitress who took the order was polite, the waiter who I asked if he knew how long the order might be after 40 mins said "it normally takes 20-25 mins and you haven't been here that long I saw you sit down". If... More
