We went to the Castle for a meal on saturday, two meals for £10.99, excellent value and quality, but the thing we both would like to comment on was the service and general helpfulness of the young waiter James, he obviously enjoys his job and is priceless.

The Castle Inn is in a great location, just on the edge of the town of Bakewell. It's two minutes walk to the centre and in walking distance from many pubs, restaurants, cafes etc. It also sits right next to the river and iconic bridge of bakewell which is really pretty. The bedroom was comfy and spacious, although the bathroom... More

It was the best Lamb Shank dinner I've ever had! Attentive, thorough and welcoming service with excellent quality food! Ideal location as well as it right by the bridge into the town. The restaurant section of the pub was smaller than the average pub but that just enhanced the homely feel. Thank you! Would highly recommend!

Always a challenge to find a dog friendly pub with decent food. Not being a fan of Green King I have to say I was a little apprehensive about eating here. Have to say I was pleasantly suprised. The food was actually pretty good and the service excellent. Thank you ladies for looking after our dog so well!

My mum and I stayed at this hotel during Chatsworth horse trials. We enjoyed the experience as there were many good things about this hotel, but a couple of things did let it down. Firstly the good points. The staff were excellent, very helpful and welcoming. The bed I slept in was very comfortable and I had a great night's... More

Our stay - two nights, with dog, room 1, one evening meal, two breakfasts, three days. Initial welcome in bar by very humorous/droll barman with full explanation of where dogs are welcome, when did we want breakfast, how to access accommodation after the witching hour and how to ask for help at any time. Very amusing. So how did it... More

Spent 2 nights in Bakewell in a guest house, and had evening meals both nights in The Castle. Love that the place is dog-friendly, and the food is really good! Can thoroughly recommend their Beef and Ale Pie!

Great central location with easy to find parking and good service. Rooms are a bit tired and could do with updating but would definitely recommend the breakfast as the chef that served us was so friendly and the food was great that It made our stay!

Popped over to Bakewell for the day and had lunch in the Castle, two fish and chips for £12 seemed too good t be true but had a go anyway. Food arrived very quickly and was outstanding, fresh and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended and will be trying other similar establishments on my travels. Thank you to the manager who although...
