We visited Bakewell for the weekend and went to the Castle Inn for dinner as we had brought the dog and it's a dog friendly pub. Would thoroughly recommend the food (in particular the beef and ale pie!), the atmosphere was really nice and the service excellent. Would love to return!

Went into this pub one lunch time. It was very pleasant. You choose your food from the menu and pay at the bar before your meal. We had the two course, garlic mushrooms which were very nice with a bit of garnish and I had the traditional fish and chips. This was quite sizeable and well cooked,it included tartar sauce... More

Dropped in here for a meal on the way home after visiting the Chatsworth Christmas Fair. I must say that the Beef and Ale Pie was one of the best I have tasted and along with the freshly cooked vegetables and gravy made a very good meal. Plenty of ales on tap to choose from to help wash it down.... More

We stayed here 6/10/14 for two nights, two adults with our two dogs. The staff here are excellent especially the breakfast team who were brilliant. All the staff are very friendly and chatty. The rooms are fine and reasonably priced. Would definitely return here should we find ourselves in this neck of the woods. Highly recommended. Thank you.

We visit Bakewell quite a lot and have eaten at the Castle quite a few times when we have been there. We have always found the food to be reliably pretty good pub food. On our recent weeks holiday we ate there three times, the food was what we expected and was good and plentiful. It was noticeably quieter than... More

Came here for lunch as the menu looked good value for money. Had the roasted tomato pasta and fish and chips. Pointer to Chef/Cook, pasta has grated cheese not a slice and oil for chips needs to be hotter than what you cooked ours at! When you slice open a chip oil is not meant to pour out of it!... More

We had two lovely meals here and could not fault it or the staff but on our last night the 4th September we came across a very rude and unhelpful member of staff We ordered our starters and they didn't show up so we asked him were they were they immediately came out and he said they were shoved to... Allocated room 4 which is noisy when trying to sleep due to the air conditioning unit from the kitchen below which is right outside the room. Bedroom good, new wardrobes and other furniture but the bathroom needs updating as looking a bit shabby. Free parking and close to the centre of Bakewell which was good.

We have spent the Bank Holiday in Bakewell and have stayed, once again , at the Castle inn run by the genial Gary and Claire - From the minute we arrived and parked up on their car park, we were greeted like old friends by Claire. We had requested Room 1 as this was our favourite and by 11.00 it... More

Having stayed at the Castle Inn before I did not feel the need to check on trip advisor and we were looking forward to a second visit. While the staff were warm and welcoming the room was very disappointing. The room had a thick layer of dust on every surface and skirting boards, the bathroom had other peoples hair all... More
