I arranged for a party of 30+ from the Warrington HF Ramblers to hold our Annual Outing at the Monsal Head - after walking in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside we all met up at the Monsal Head Hotel for our meal which was delivered promptly, hot and extremely delicious the service was second to none - The staff were extremely... more

We booked for one night as we were fly fishing on the River Wye nearby. Got an excellent deal for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast £150 per room. Hotel is in a quiet spot about three miles from Bakewell with not a lot around it but a beautiful view of the Monsal Dale. It is sited in the middle of several... more

This hotel is in a great location and I can see why people have rated it highly in other reviews. However, there were a number of things that on our stay that did not go quite right. First we were staying in one of the Stables Rooms - these rooms do not have a view, but overlook the bar outside.... more

We didnt actually stay here but we used the restaurant to have dinner one night and breakfast another and whilst what everyone else says about the place seeming slightly old fashioned is true, the food was superb. Everything was cooked to perfection and plenty of it - what a surprise! more

We particularly wanted to stay in the area in order to visit Chatsworth house with its Christmas decorations. We were not disappointed with either. Monsal Head is not super-luxurious and does not pretend to be anything it is not. It is a small individual hotel with a very popular eating pub attached. The pub is flagstoned and has a welcoming... more

Firstly, let me state some basic facts about this hotel. It is small, located at a fantastically beautiful spot a few miles from any significant town (Bakewell is nearest) and is rather old-fashioned - at least the furniture is. Some would say it is need of an update. The hotel has a restaurant as well as an adjacent pub restaurant.... more

We stayed at the Monsal Head for a weekend in June 2007. The location is ideal for visiting the Peak District and the views from rooms 1 to 4 are superb. The rooms are fairly small and could do with some updating but are clean and well maintained. The restaurant is good and there is also a separate, more informal,... more

Stay here if you want a comfortable and friendly base for exploring the White Peak. Our break was excellent value (£360 for four nights dinner, bed and breakfast Sunday-Thursday - weekends are a little dearer). The bedroom though furnished with old fashioned furniture was clean and the beds were comfortable and the shower hot. The only minus was that the... more

The views from this hotel are wonderful. The rooms are basic with very old 'used' furniture. The room myself and my friend stayed in had a very 'tiny' shower area. The hand wash sink was in the bedroom itself which I did not like at all. Apart from the views the best bit about this Hotel was the Fantastic full... more

Stayed here for two nights in Mid November. Great location to walk on the Monsal Trail (right at the start, impressive landscape views from the hotel and not only three miles from Bakewell. The room we stayed in was not great, mainly because it had a very uncomfortable bed and was bascially furnished. However it did have a TV and hot... more
