We chose the Manners on Recommendation from our son and his wife, who visited in May 2014, We arranged to stay at the Manners during the second week of our summer holiday, we had just spent a week in Glencoe, Scotland, and planned to spend three nights in Bakewell on our return to England to give us a 10 day... It is 3months since this brewery owned hotel has had new tenants. The improvement generally is very obvious as the pub has a new lease of life. The rear car park is a bonas but the drive approach needs repairing. The dishes on a a varied menu are well cooked, freshly prepared and well flavoured-definitely more a good restaurant than a pub... More

Would have loved to have shared an experience with you about this establishment but, unfortunately, when I tried to book a room was told they have a minimum two night booking policy, so shall have to look elsewhere.

We called into the Manners Hotel for dinner after a visit to Haddon Hall. The interior decor is contemporary and welcoming. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. We ordered the slow-cooked pork and the steak of venison haunch. The food arrived quickly and both dishes were excellent. The pork was very tender and was served on a slice of black... More

We booked The Manners on bank holiday weekend having searched for somewhere which is dog friendly . 9 of us ate here and the service was good , the food excellent . The children were well catered for , steaks cooked to perfection and the wine to our taste. Overall, the food was reasonably priced and we shall definitely return... More

We are regular visitors to Bakewell, and have stopped in accommodation covering a range of price points from The Castle at around £80 a night to Bagshaw Hall at £160 a night. The accommodation at the Manners is priced at £70 a night, including breakfast. In Bakewell, at this price point, our expectations weren't high. We wandered in off the... More

We'd heard on the grapevine that Bryan and Sarah Moran had left Sheffield to run a more fitting establishment - a good quality pub grub place which Bakewell so desperately needs. We have eaten many times at Morans' in Sheffield and thought it was by far the best restaurant in Sheffield - so good ALL the time. We were excited... More

My husband, son and I called in for a meal just before the present owners took over. The atmosphere, beer and food choice were dire but that was, we now realise because of the imminent change of ownership. We decided on this visit never to return. Advance a few months and we had heard that ownership had changed and things... More

As we were staying just around the corner, we decided to go here for our last night in Bakewell, and we were glad that we did. Our meals were very good. I had the fish and chips, which was tasty and well cooked. My wife had the steak which was cooked as she likes it. At a tenner a head... More

We've visited Bakewell several times but have never stayed there so decided this time that was what we would do. Our choice of B&B was The Manners Hotel and what good value it turned out to be! The owners Brian and Sarah had only been there for five weeks but you wouldn't have known it. We arrived early, checked in... More
