Having booked two nights at the Rutland Arms as we needed to be in the area for a weekend event, a quick web search indicated this was probably the most logical for us based on price / location etc. Clearly for £100-00 per night we were not expecting the Ritz but then again we were expecting something with character, cleanliness... more

A visit to the Rutland Arms Hotel was arranged earlier in the year to coincide with the Well Dressing activities. The plan was to enjoy the Wells and then enjoy a lunch at the Rutland Arms Hotel (this was booked at the time of planning the visit). There were 59 of us on the trip and we all paid £14.95... more

This is the worst service I have ever experienced, A party of 50 of us prebooked meals at this hotel, we all arrived 10 minutes early. staff not only knew what time we were due but had everyone's meal and sweet order in advance. From the start the staff appeared in a panic, we were on a table of 11,... more

I did not stay in the hotel but as a local person I visited the Square Restaurant for a meal and was totally blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The presentation was exceptional and the flavours did not disappoint, each course was a delight and the pleasant atmosphere enhanced a wonderfull evening. I would have no... more

After reading reviews of this hotel I was very wary about our planned visit for my mothers birthday treat. Our rooms in the hotel were lovely. The only downside that they were a little hot but what are windows for! The flowers, champagne, chocolates and fruit for mums birthday were perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A... more

£99 for 2 of us in a double room - with breakfast. The maximum should have been half of that. The staff were very friendly, but that doesn't make up for the problems which seem to blight hotels in the peak district, the lake district and many other English tourist locations. Small rooms, overpriced, shabby appearance and somewhere i won't... more

Having eventually parked we arrived at the hotel. Which on first impression was olde worlde but with bags of character. The check-in process was smooth enough and got a room in the actual hotel. There are more rooms in a courtyard opposite the hotel. The room had been recently decorated but the furniture including the tv and bed had seen... more

we stayed in the stable block . The room was tatty to say the least . The bathroom was new so it was ok . The decor etc was dire and the room and exterior staircase etc was dirty and tatty. The rooms in the main hotel may be better but we didnt get a cheaper rate for being in... more

I stayed here a few weeks ago while visiting family in the UK. We wanted a quaint countryside hotel in a market town with some nice walking. Bakewell seemed perfect for that and the Rutland Arms (right in the middle of town) seemed like the best place to stay. The hotel itself was full of character and utterly charming. Staff... more

My husband and I stayed for one night only and this was too much. When we arrived the room was full of flies circling the four poster bead as the window was left open. Once we got rid of these we found the room to be very dusty particularly on top of the bed canopy it was at least 1... more
