We stayed at Fischers for four nights recently on our honeymoon. It was just what we wanted after the stress leading up to the wedding - a relaxing atmosphere with great food. We stayed in Garden Room 1, which was very quiet - other than people accessing the laundry room downstairs in the morning, the only other sounds we heard... more

Only booked our wedding 3 weeks in advance, was going to take the plunge in Vegas for some reason, but of course family ends up coming first and to avoid upset we decided on getting married in the UK, the 1st place we tried was Fischers and luckily they were free the weekend we wanted. The day could not have... more

We booked a three night stay as a wedding anniversary break - after finding Baslow Hall on the internet. The added bonus was being so close to Chatsworth - which we had always wanted to visit. Baslow Hall is an impressive venue and without doubt the emphasis is on the restaurant. I note that another reviewer has called it a... more

Having seen some of these mixed reviews we went with apprehension. Only too often the food that claims to be "cutting edge" turns out to be (bluntly ) the "Emperor`s clothes". Not here. Menus are Premium ( a tasting menu offering samples of different dishes ) and the standard a la carte at £60 and £65 respectively. We chose the... more

I hoped to book a Friday and Saturday night stay, but the hotel was full on Friday and there was no problem booking only Saturday. Unlike the previous reviewer I found the reception staff easy and pleasant to deal with both in correspondence and at the desk (admittedly all I wanted was to check in and out). We had a... more

We stayed at Fischer's Baslow Hall for one night on our recent trip through England and Wales. We were in one of the garden rooms, apart from the main house, which was very nice and roomy. Modern bathroom, nice amenities. I actually have no complaints about the room itself. We stayed on a Saturday night, and our travel agent had... more

Recently returned from a walking weekend in the Peak District; the highlight by far was our two-night stay at Fischer's. The staff were welcoming and efficient, the food was exceptional. Our room (Rutland) was in the main house and despite lacking air-conditioning (sorely needed during this recent heatwave), it functioned very well as a space in which to relax as... more

This hotel has to be the most wonderful place in Derbyshire. Yes...I may be slightly baised as we were married here on 18th June 2004. The hotel is beautiful, decorated opulently with lovely gardens and sitting areas. The staff are fantastic, they will go out of their way to ensure you have absolutely every thing you need without being intrusive.... more

Actually the place is delightful; well-situated, nice gardens, and the rooms, while small, verge on opulent. The staff of the inn are obviously well-trained; if anything, a tad overdeferential but I realize that is the style nowadays. It's the Dining Room, which the inn considers its raison d'etre, that was a real letdown. The food is expensive and uninspired, and... more
