We loved this guesthouse. The welcome was fantastic and our room very comfortable, although up some steep stairs. The breakfast room was superb, beautifully laid out and decorated with gorgeous abstract paintings by the manager. We loved the home laid eggs in the morning. The surrounding countryside is outstanding and we loved walking the Monsul Trail nearby. Will definitely consider... More

I stayed at Sheldon's Retreat for 2 nights and was really impressed. I was made to feel really welcome as soon as I arrived, my room was very nice. It was a beautiful location, and a perfect base for my weekend of walking, only a short drive away from the Monsal Head Trail. It was refreshing to find a b&b... More

I stayed here last weekend on a last minute break away and I'm very glad we picked here! I wanted a weekend away from it all, and this is certainly a great place for this - the B&B itself is in the middle of a handful of houses and opposite the pub that make up the village of Sheldon. Despite... More

Having read previous glowing reviews it was difficult not to try this "retreat". Thankfully it lived up to its reputation from the initial friendly greeting to the sincere farewell. The rooms were decorated in a very calming way. Clean and welcoming with firm but supportive beds encouraging a peaceful sleep. It is an extremely quiet location ideal to escape the... More

We chose Sheldon's because of its location. Very friendly welcome from the owners, and quickly settled into our ground floor room. The decor is to a high standard and clean, as you'd expect. It was quite a chilly day, and the room was nice and warm. We went to the local country pub that serves a general pub-like menu (plus... More

A neat Hotel buried in the charming village of Sheldon near Bakewell with the delightful Pub the 'Cock and Pullet' - I lie not! THe bedroom was fastidiously prepared and with all accessories in the bathroom. But the real surprise was the Dining Room. Around the room wondrous antiques and a selection of murals, stones, statues, collages and paintings. It was like... More

We stayed at Sheldon's Retreat for two nights and were really happy with our experience. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, gorgeous food (especially the homemade bread) and attention to detail such as fair trade and organic products in the kitchen and bathroom. We really appreciated the effort and will be recommending to all our friends!

In my limited explorations of the Bakewell area I would say that vegetarians are an over-looked customer base. It was so nice to see a B&B promoting itself as vegetarian, even if I rarely eat a cooked breakfast. The managers were welcoming and friendly. We knew we had booked a small room, so weren't surprised by the size, which was... More

We stayed at Sheldon on new years eve. The new managers were lovely -- and made us very welcome. The room was warm and spotlessly clean. Pets welcome. Nice village, great location for walking, freindly local pub across the road. Would go again without hesitation
