I would like to think that we visited the Ashford Arms on a bad day, however, I can see from a lot of the reviews that people had experienced the same poor, disinterested, disorganised service that we did. The young serving staff were run off their feet and provided a good service. However, the landlord and his older 'assistant' ,... More

This hotel/inn is located in a very quaint village just outside of Bakewell. Unlike Bakewell it is quiet, gorgeous, has your ideal village cricket on the green and 3 places to choose for a meal. The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of parking and the menu at the restaurant was quite varied. A home cooked country breakfast in... More

My husband and I stayed here as part of a larger family party for a wedding nearby. The hotel staff were accommodating and we felt that the rate was reasonable for the location and standard. Our room was pleasant albeit a little warm. The bed, however, was very soft which isn't to our liking. We were given keys so could... More

Recommended to us by some locals so our expectations were high. The reality was less promising. Having had a large breakfast we just had four starters. The goujon were good, the Thai fishcakes OK if too much potato, the chicken liver parfait was grainy and the carrot and coriander soup was way way too sweet and was sent back. Service... More

Our room overlooked back of hotel. Kitchen fans turned off after breakfast and off at night, room being very warm, as was the rest of the building, with window open all day for air had the smell of cooking all the time. Room was small and ensuite smelt. Arrived on Sunday for a 2 night stay only to find no... More

A group of us visited for Sunday lunch. The food was spot on, couldn't fault it. I chose a local beer, the Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold. I was charged an eye watering £4.05 a pint! I've paid far less in central London! 5* for the food but I will give just 3* in total as I don't appreciate being ripped... More

We have just come back from a lovely two day break in this historic pub/hotel and found it charming. The room was small but comfortable and the food was splendid - not only did we have breakfast each morning but had an evening meal there on both nights - the choice was excellent and the quality and price spot on....
