Dropped in for dinner on my own whilst staying nearby. Great menu, too much choice if anything. The chicken liver pate was amazing. Steak & Ale pie, very average - the lid looked and felt like it was made from plasterboard. Some staff were clearly disgruntled and talking about getting other jobs - not good. I didn't feel welcome which... More

Situated in a lovely village with loads of interesting sites, surrounding countryside exceptionally beautiful. The Arms is lovely and cosy, serves excellent food. we have never had a disappointing meal.. There Lamb is very good.. sizzling in red currant sauce.

My room was too small for the furniture. The bathroom was really too small altogether. The sink was difficult to use because a shelf was in the way when bending down to wash. The shower was tiny. The restaurant was very popular but I thought the food was somewhat tasteless. The tables were also small for four adults. I wouldn't... More

I would like to think that we visited the Ashford Arms on a bad day, however, I can see from a lot of the reviews that people had experienced the same poor, disinterested, disorganised service that we did. The young serving staff were run off their feet and provided a good service. However, the landlord and his older 'assistant' ,... More

This hotel/inn is located in a very quaint village just outside of Bakewell. Unlike Bakewell it is quiet, gorgeous, has your ideal village cricket on the green and 3 places to choose for a meal. The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of parking and the menu at the restaurant was quite varied. A home cooked country breakfast in... More

My husband and I stayed here as part of a larger family party for a wedding nearby. The hotel staff were accommodating and we felt that the rate was reasonable for the location and standard. Our room was pleasant albeit a little warm. The bed, however, was very soft which isn't to our liking. We were given keys so could... More

Recommended to us by some locals so our expectations were high. The reality was less promising. Having had a large breakfast we just had four starters. The goujon were good, the Thai fishcakes OK if too much potato, the chicken liver parfait was grainy and the carrot and coriander soup was way way too sweet and was sent back. Service... More
