Everything about Melbourne House is excellent. We received a friendly welcome on arrival and were shown straight to our room which was spotless as was the en-suite bathroom. The facilities were great, a comfy bed, good quality bed linen, tea, coffee and biscuits, free wi-fi which was very fast and always available. We stayed for three days and the room... More

Just returned from a couple of nights at the Melbourne. What can we say; we couldn't fault this place, from the very modern and well fitted rooms, to the comfy beds and delicious breakfast, it was a delight from start to finish. Our host was most accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. And at a very competitive price. We... More

The rooms were very clean and cosy. My girlfriend wanted to swap her current bedroom with our room at Melbourne House...the owners are very friendly people, very communicative and open. I was honestly sad to leave this place. The village itself is absolutely lovely and dreamy. We would always come back to this enchanting place.

Very nice b&b .Room clean and tidy and bed very comfy for a good nights sleep.Odd welcome when we arrived instead of asking who we were, owner came out and said you cannot park here.Only down side to breakfast no beans served, would have been nice.

Well placed for exploring Bakewell and its surroundings. The room we had was bigger and better appointed that some hotels we have stayed in. Very clean with comfortable beds. Our twin room had 2 queen size beds with a choice of 6 pillows on each. No problem finding one to suit. Breakfast was well cooked. Would love to come back.

Excellent guest house. Very clean and well presented. Beds very comfortable, shower excellent, breakfast tasty (perfect eggs) and more than enough to eat. This is one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in. Will be going back.

I stayed in room 3 last week with my mother and found it very clean, comfortable and spacious. We both enjoyed the Art Deco style of the furnishings. John and Marie were kind and helpful. The breakfasts were very good. Others have noted the somewhat cramped dining room though there isn't much they can do about that.

Stayed at Melbourne House for Eroica festival weekend. The B&B is centrally located and very easy to find. Marie and John make you very welcome and you really are part of their home. This was an incredibly busy weekend but we didn't ever feel rushed even down to the early race times being accommodated with much earlier than usual breakfasts.... More

Stayed here Friday and Saturday . Very good location for town ( 100 meters from town center ) The accomodation is very clean and the breakfast is very good. Marie and her husband are very welcoming and obliging. They let us put our ice packs for the cooler bag in there freezer. Car parking is free and overall it was... More

Excellent service, great breakfast, rooms are well furnished and clean. Our room even had bathtub and wifi. Thoroughly accommodating and understanding people, and the lady who runs the place is very kind. We got top level service, even in all the hubbub surrounding the Eroica Britannia cycle festival. Would recommend to anyone!
