Yes very nice, popped in on the off chance! Was fairly busy manage to get a table. Had the roast beef and turkey...very tasty and not too pricey! had a couple of ales to wash it down. Great atmosphere would definitely go again!

Went for a meal, 4 adults and 1 child, Saturday afternoon. Third visit, decent food but feel that the standard of service has definitely declined. No effort was taken to make us feel welcome, they weren't overly busy. Cutlery virtually thrown at us, plastic bottle of Hellmann's mayonnaise banged down on the table, made to feel that we were an... More

You know what - I have a fantastic reputation with my responses on Trip Advisor, most people understand, the delinquents, and thankfully they are in the vey small minority don't, but with this one I can't even be bothered, it's so pathetic.... Get off your Arylsulfatase E next time, as there is plenty of mayonnaise around the Peacock, and none... More

Used this place following the write up on TripAdvisor - and was also intrigued to see what the landlord was actually like! Superb Sunday roast, best we've had in a long time - well presented, very tasty and delivered really quickly given the number of people using the premises. Would highly recommend it and if we lived nearer it would... More

Had Sunday lunch here, which was fantastic with piles of meat, huge Yorkshire pudding and plenty of veg. Quite pricey, but you get what you pay for and the portions are substantial. It was so good we went back the next day and were not disappointed with thai fishcakes and southern fried chicken. Again large portions of well cooked, hot... More

We didn't stay at the hotel but called in for lunch during a Sunday afternoon drive. The pub was warm and welcoming, it had a cosy feel to it but still had plenty of tables. There was a good choice of food so something for everyone. The food was well presented, generous portions, piping hot and of a good quality.

Stayed for 3 nights in room 4, which is one of the rooms in the annex at the side of the pub. The room was quite large with a lovely soft double bed and was spotlessly clean. There is a shower room to one end and I even managed to switch it one unaided ! In the mornings the full... More

thepeacockbakewell, This ones for you Melanie, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

Neil O - appreciate the post, so thanks and Clean is the most important asset I feel of any B & B, and as you rightly acknowledge the Peacock is clean, and we have to thank Melanie, our resident House Keeper for maintaining the rooms, as well as cleaning the actual Pub for the high standard of cleanliness she keeps.... Visited this place today with my family. I had the roast lamb which was one of the best lamb pieces I've ever eaten. It was truly beautiful, really tender. It was served with a really nice potato and turnip mash and a really nice selection of sautéed vegetables. Yorkshire pudding was great too, although slightly burnt. Topped with a generous... More

thepeacockbakewell, ....we only do lovely, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

....and a lovely post in return AlexaExarc, although if the Yorkie was slightly burnt we apologise, but I guess that comes with the territory of Homemade Yorkshire Puddings - none of this microwave rubbish you more than often find in the two for a tenner establishments, not forgetting the delicious gravy the Chefs Concoct. Thanks for the post Alex, and... More

Booked for 2 nights, but checked out after 1. The staff didn’t want to know why, and really didn’t seem to care. I Was put in what is described on the website as a “luxury studio”. The word luxury must have been lost in translation somehow, as the room appears to be little more than a converted shed. Certainly not... More

I actually believe 100% that DWOODS has got himself lost in translation with this review.... When the guest requested if he could check out after one night with Sandra, a member of staff who was on duty that morning, who I will stress right here right now, is as polite a girl as you will find, and after speaking with... Came here based on trip advisor reviews. Great little pub, centrally located with a real buzz of atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon. A little pricier than those in similar positions although we don't mind paying extra for quality, which we received. I ordered ham and cheese panini, great choice but personally too much cheese meant I could not really taste... More

thepeacockbakewell, Gran's are a speciality, especially, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

Good Old Trip Advisor pulls it off again with a lovely post from flowersinthewindow, which coincidentally the Peacock has, and allegedly as nice a window display with the magnificent floral spread you will find in Bakewell - especially during the summer months. Your comments with regard to the Hot Steak Sandwiches are heard loud 'n' clear, but we prefer to... More

Having made a few trips to The Peacock Inn, I decided to write this review... because without a doubt this place offers the best bar menu going...more like Restaurant quality.
