This is my second visit to The Anis Louise guest house. It's a little treasure. I really can't recommend the place highly enough. I had a different room on this occasion, which was again decorated to the highest standards and very comfortable.

I had an impromptu meeting in Chesterfield which over-ran into the evening. I couldn't face the drive back to York and decided to find somewhere to stay. At such short notice I was expecting to have to rough it. I couldn't have been more wrong. The room was outstanding, light and comfortable. Breakfast was superb and Lisa and Martin couldn't... More

I had such a great stay here at the Anis Louise guest house- I was made to feel incredibly welcome, and allowed to check in early when I turned up to see if I could just drop my bag off. The room was lovely, facilites were great and the breakfast was absolutely spot on! Full marks to Martin in the... More

Looked it up on Google Earth beforehand so I had the one way system sussed out, the room was immaculate and the shower room very impressive with its fully panelled walls, excellent sleep on the fairly firm single beds and a nice multichoice breakfast, very nice family run B & B, cant comment on Wifi as I never used it.... I looked around for weeks and eventually came across the Anis Louis Guest House. I've stayed in many Hotels for work some better than others but in the Anis Louis I unearthed a gem. I was quickly taken into the boosem of this lovely family. The Guest House is immaculate, the rooms are well kitted out and more importantly for... More

We Stayed at this guest house 16th to 17th May 15. We were in the top floor room which was very comfortable clean and warm. Tea, coffee and biscuits all in the room waiting for us on our arrival and were topped up for next day. Martin was a fantastic host who could do no more to make us welcome.... More

I'm an expat living in Switzerland and stay here twice a year while visiting family in the area. My latest visit was four nights from April 23, 2015. The Guest House is very central (5mins walk to shops, 15mins walk to railway station) but is quiet. My single room has everything I need: it's spotless with a warm, comfortable bed,... More

We stayed for a weekend and were very impressed. Martin and Lisa are very attentive and make sure that you have everything you need. We stayed in the top floor room and were delighted with the clever design and the furnishings. The bed is particularly comfortable, more befitting a luxury five star hotel than a Guest House. The breakfasts are... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2015

I stayed in room 2, a small single room with ensuite, whilst working at the local theatre. Although small, the room had everything you needed and was cleaned to perfection every day. Martin and Lisa were great hosts and gave me some great tips for things to do and places to eat, including Pinocchios (a local independent Italian) and the... More
