The Inn is situated inn a quiet sleepy village where apart from one other pub (which we did not manage to visit as the Tollgate was so great) there is not much else so if you want peace and quiet then this is the place to go. Made by reservation by phone. Read rave reviews of restaurant- although not so rave about rooms. Rang back to add a Sunday night to weekend. Closed on Sundays! Owner then said I'll cancel your reservation and re-sell and put the phone down. This is why English tourism and hotels get a bad name. more

We arrived at The Tollgate Inn with high hopes, a romantic room with fantastic views having been promised.
