Having read the reviews, I had to recheck I had the same place. I dont agree with the comments as I will remember the Cross Guns as a lovely English pub with character. The staff were friendly, there was a good selection of beers and a very reasonably priced large selection of 'cocktails' (though sat afternoon wasn't the time to... More

I read all the reviews I could about this place before I posted this & sadly, I can concur that the location is stunning & the food was awful. It was lunchtime & not busy & we ordered the burger & chips & one could have had better at a hot-dog stand outside a football stadium. "Pappy" bread, processed cheese... More

A nice venue next to the canal, Service was friendly enough I but food was awful. Would never have food there again. I think everything was microwaved. The chef was shouting at staff. Not enjoyable and over priced

Visited here on a sunny Saturday in July with a group of friends. Queued to order food for 20 mins to be told your number would be called out soon. Soon turned into 45 mins. Your number is screeched out from the pub kitchen when you have to then climb the steep steps from beer garden to collect. I wouldn't... More

The location is amazing - right on the Avon canal where it goes over the aquaduct but not easy to find. We drove, according to the instructions, on and on down a country road with hardly any room for two cars to pass, until we came down a steep lane to see the canal and The Cross Guns at the... More

We cycled from Bath to The Cross Guns on Monday - my husband has many happy memories of this pub with its beautiful setting. The setting has not changed, the glass of wine was lovely but oh! No the toilets are so disgusting, one for males & one for ladies and outside the main building- great in the rain. My... More

Stayed here at the weekend with my husband as we were hiring a boat with friends for the day. The place is busy but friendly, it is your typical pub with a few bedrooms to stay in. We had room 1 with a "four poster" and found it to be very comfortable. Obviously this isnt 5 star luxury but with... More

A proper pub in a lovely spot (but parking severely limited - unless arriving by boat) situated between the Kennett + Avon Canal and River Avon (fantastic walks). The publican has his own brewery so terrific ales. Meals are reasonably priced, plenty of choice and specials; children and dogs are all welcome, and service is friendly. Best to book for... More

Although I didn't stay here you can't beat this location to stop off at for a drink. If you like your real ales & cider then this is the place for you. Good service & friendly staff. It can be very busy here at weekends or in the summer as you would exspect being right next to the canal. The... More

we hired a boat for half a day and went as far as this pub for some lunch. It was a nice pub. Lots of nice ales to choose from. The food was nice, and it came quickly. We went on a dreary, cold, Friday afternoon in March. I can see that during the Summer, when the canal is really... More
