We stayed for three days at the end of October for our honeymoon. We booked a refurbished room which was beautiful, but there were a few niggles. The double bed wasn't actually a double - actually two single mattressess ziplocked together, so not quite what we intended for a honeymoon. The staff upgraded us to the Oval room which was... more

This was a last minute booking made with a little trepidation having read the generally poor reviews on the website, however was looking for somewhere near Bath for a short mid week break for my wife and I and the late availability offer from Bishopstrow caught my eye. First impressions, slightly hampered by the resurfacing work in the car park... more

My wife and I stayed at Bishopstrow for two nights early in November for a special anniversary break. We chose Bishopstrow from the Von Essen Hotels web site because of its facilities and location; and in particular, we wanted to share the special couples’ spa massage as the highlight of our visit, which promised simultaneous treatment side by side in... more

My friend and I recently stayed here as part of one of their pamper packages. The package included a treatment and Dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel has recently undergone major refurbishments and we chose to stay in a luxury superior room. Whilst the room was lovely some of the finishes werent' quite up to the standard you would expect... more

Myself and three girlfriends stayed at Bishopstrow this weekend as relaxing treat. We enjoyed a light lunch in the Drawing Room when we arrived, reading the Sunday papers by the fire. We then went on to enjoy beauty treatments and massages in the brand new Spa. Two of the girls i went with are beauty therapists themselves and both said... more

Ohhh how I wish I had read the reviews before we went! We did have a nice time, and we did come away relaxed, but what a very expensive weekend it turned out to be! (I don't mind paying nearly £600 for a weekend away, but I expect it to be 1st class and this certainly was only economy!) Not... more

Having stayed at the Bishopstrow previously we were very concerned about the recent reviews we had read on Trip Advisor. We are however delighted to report that we have just had 2 wonderful, relaxing days at the Hotel to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The hotel is beautiful and the recent work that has been completed adds the extra wow factor.... more

Our room: Extremely tatty. We booked a superior room, having seen the pictures online. On arrival we were put in the Wimbourne room, which was in a poor state of decoration and rather gloomy. The french doors opened on to a part of the garden which was untidy and certainly unappealing to sit out on. I requested that we were... more

This hotel SHOULD be great - it's a lovely place in beautiful grounds, with SOME good staff. Although he rooms in the main house are nice, they're way overprices. "Courtyard" rooms, which are more sensibly priced if you're lucky are no better than a Holiday Inn, with thin walls, creaky floorboards and very slow internet connection when it's actually working.... more

Our stay at Bishopstrow house was disappointing – we paid nearly £600 to stay for the Valentine’s weekend and would definitely say that it wasn’t worth the money. On booking the hotel over the phone, we were told if we selected one of the more expensive rooms we would be upgraded to one of the top three suites on arrival.... more
