Wanted last minute getaway with husband. Heard about Bishopstrow House and relatively recent refurb. Lured by day spa and country retreat location. What I rather naively didn't expect was thousands of children everywhere, from the moment of our arrival onwards! Easter holidays, close to Longleat... Yes feeling bit silly now, however the website does not pitch it as a true... More

the Bishopstrow House hotel is fabulous - we stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms in the stable block and had a lovely time overall. only criticism is that the pool/spa was a bit on the cold side both in and out of the water, which is a shame as it wasn't somewhere you would want to hang out..which... A beautiful hotel with a calm and restful ambience. The staff are very helpful and attentive and the indoor pool and gym were very clean and well provisioned. - but we were rather disappointed that the Jacuzzi was out of order for the 3 days we were there. The spa staff are very friendly and I enjoyed a massage there... More

Having travelled to this hotel for afternoon tea it was somewhat disappointing. The reviews say this is an excellent afternoon tea. The tea was not loose leaf as I would have expected for the price one pot with no hot water. The sandwiches were not a selection you had to choose there was a meringue held together by the mousse... I went to this hotel for my last birthday and it was lovely. Very nice character building in a nice location not too far from Bath. As well as this the rooms are so nicely furnished and the bathrooms are really sleek like staying in a proper county home with modern updates. Breakfast was also very good, nice variety of... More

this was a secret escapes deal but was still relatively expensive at around £200 per night. the room was nice - amazing bathroom. must say was surprised by the lack of refreshments - both complimentary and paid for - even in a lower quality hotel you would expect biscuits and a good range of teas but nothing at all was... We loved staying in the Pembroke room, for a Sunday overnight stay. Loved the decor, bathroom and sofa, and had a great sleep in the comfy bed. Staff were friendly enough, although more receptionists would be a recommendation. Food was adequate, but again we thought having to pay 4 quid extra for 'sides' was a bit strange. Definite language/cultural barrier... More

Absolutely superb place - great location, amazing room, excellent food and friendly helpful staff who did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The weekend treat that my partner had booked as a surprise was in danger of being ruined as we booked into a so-called 'spa' hotel locally to where we live (Surrey) and left without unpacking it was such... Girl's weekend away. 2 very special days of spa treatments and fine dining. Big thank you to all the staff that have pampered us. Please try the thyme brulee, words cannot express how exquisite it was. Lindsey in the spa worked miracles on my aching muscles and with only 4 people in the pool we clocked up a few gentle... More

It was short stay but this hotel is set in a lovely countryside. The standard rooms were really spacious and nicely decorated with huge bathroom that had walking shower & bath. All very clean. Food in their restaurant was great, nicely presented and really delicious. The staff was very friendly and made us feel really welcomed. Would definitely recommend this... More
