Having arrived late & tired from a long day travelling we were made welcome by Bridget at the reception. Later that evening & after the dining room was closed she willingly offered Sandwiches & chips for supper. This was most welcome & the service was above & beyond the call of duty. The rest of the hotel was fine. more

Stayed here for two nights with a wedding party on a friday and saturday night. The hotel is pretty faded and in need of a total refurb, bedrooms and public areas. The rooms are ok but could probably be cleaner and the beds are tiny. Breakfast also average great if you like everything deep fried. Having said this the whole team of... more

After reading other reviews, I expected the worst. Yes the decor is terrible, and yes the hotel looks like something timewarped in from the 1960's, but it has it's good points. Lounge is dingy and smelly, and corridoors are dark and musty. Rooms are small, badly furnished, but at least they are clean. There is a trouser press, and tea/coffee... more

We were hard up for a reasonably priced hotel that had rooms for all five of us on short notice, so we booked the Carngrove despite some of the shaky reviews. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our apprehensions were completely unwarranted. The hotel was clean and nicely maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we had... more

Stayed here because we were going to a wedding and the place were the reception was being held was booked up. I think the only reason I haven't rated it as the worst I have stayed in is because I stayed a really dodgy hostel somewhere in Australia once!! Check in was fine but then had to walk through the... more

Stayed just for one night, but that was enough. The staff were very friendly, but they seemed to be doing several jobs. The hotel was reasonably clean, but the decor was out of the 70's and desperately needed updating. Food was OK but nothing special. more

Stayed here for just the one night, an experience that will not be repeated. There were no staff in reception for much of the time, the room was not very clean and the plumbing was nothing short of bloody awful. The food was just OK and the decor is something straight out of a 1970's sitcom, tired and very uncomfortable.... more
